Seadek Flooring replacement
Re: Seadek Flooring replacement
Agreed Mr Whipple! There is no slipping on the swimdeck.
I looked into the longevity and learned it will only last 3 to 5 years if left exposed to the sun. In my case, I had a cover made to includes the entire boat. During the summer the boat is on a lift in a covered dock and when we leave I put the cover back on. And then during the winter she sets under a roof as well. So hopefully I'll get 8 to 10 years.

How about the aqua-marine product, Ytmsn?
Same fading issue?

Re: Seadek Flooring replacement
I think its probably all that way A7. Left exposed its just like an interior seat cushion getting sun bleached. Over a period of time the UV rays are going to have an effect, but if its covered it should last a long time. I treat it much like I would my interior, so the thought of going off leaving my boat uncovered for more than a weekend never crosses my mind because I would never do that.

I plan on doing this come spring time. Take lots of pictures with detailed instructions and drawings. I'll need all the help I can get.

Re: Seadek Flooring replacement
Wish us luck. Right now we are just doing the platform which shouldn't be too difficult to template. When we do the entire boat we may just tow it over to the local SeaDek installer. They are about 50 miles from our boat storage at lake cumberland. May be worth it to let them template and install the entire interior, but we will see how it goes.Bfun220 wrote: Tue Jan 23, 2018 8:51 pm I plan on doing this come spring time. Here is the best video I have found on the template process - pretty straight forward just time consuming. SCWake has said they will CNC cut cardboard pieces and send those to us to verify fit before they cut the real material, so if we REALLY screw something up at least we have a chance to fix it.

When you do the whole interior, are you going to do adhesive or snap-in?

Re: Seadek Flooring replacement
I said snap in because
a) we could use the current carpet to template
b) we wouldn't have to drill out and fill the resulting holes for the current snaps
The wife said adhesive.
So we will go adhesive.

It's almost like a) & b) carry no weighting whatsoever. You must be happily married!NautiGirl wrote: Wed Jan 24, 2018 8:15 am I said snap in because

Curious as you guys had a 190 as well. The platform is tiny. I have kids jumping off that thing non stop... You think something like this would work???

Re: Seadek Flooring replacement
I kid I kid. Katie has a good point. Cobalt did a terrible job of placing the snaps in the 222. For example, in order to open the ski locker or the in floor cooler you have to un-snap the carpet. It really is annoying. So I guess I will admit she is right.
As far as the 190, did you just mean the small area behind the rear sundeck?

Re: Seadek Flooring replacement
I've been back and forth on this a bit. My carpet is in decent shape so probably will stick with it for awhile, but eventually will do the whole floor in SeaDek. I really like the idea of being able to pull the carpet/SeaDek out, but I'm not sure how frequently it would actually be that I'd need to do it.NautiGirl wrote: Wed Jan 24, 2018 9:51 am I kid I kid. Re: Seadek Flooring replacement
I have the same thought Thunder. In my 240 I didn't have carpet and it was nice to be able to squirt Starbright deck wash on it, swab with a longhandle stiff brush, and wash it out with a hose. Presto, a brilliant white floor.
Now with my 262 (that has new carpet) what to do? With bare floors I saw how nasty everything gets even as fanatical as I am about keeping it clean. But I like the look and feel of carpet...
Knowing how nasty the carpet MUST be after a season I think for the next few years I'll take it out maybe around the 4th for a good cleaning with a power washer, and again at the end of the season.
I got my order in from Aquamarine the other day for the swimdecks. I also went ahead and got the pieces that go into the walkthrough and step down. I'm just waiting for a good weekend to install everything.
My only regret is I wish the Cobalt logo was larger and placed closer to the bottom instead of the middle. On the 262 the upper deck covers the extended deck just a bit. Ah well..

Re: Seadek Flooring replacement
I would say that would be perfect for that small deck on the 190, Liquid. Especially with kids...I was always worried about my young nieces and nephews slipping as the climb up the ladder only to jump off again. SeaDek would help the slip issue. Would be an easy install too.liquid wrote: Wed Jan 24, 2018 9:56 amYup. The mini-step.NautiGirl wrote: Wed Jan 24, 2018 9:51 am I kid I kid. Katie has a good point.
