and the drive will be mostly submerged

What!!!
Man, that would be a show stopper in my book. Who designs a lift that keeps an outdrive submerged. Sorry to hear that TR.

It's not a design flaw A7, it's a capacity thing. They're all built and rated different for specific loads. If you put a heavy boat on a light lift that's what happens. TR's 240 is fine on a 6,600 lift, but a 282 will squat it down. Hence, a new 10,000 lb. lift is needed.

Yes it seems like its a coy marketing scheme. "Hey I need a lift to raise 6600 lbs. of boat, gear and gas. Sure the 6600 UL will do just that! However, at 6600 lbs. it will only lift your hull out of the water a few inches. Here, let me steer to you to our 8800 UL model...that will get you a full rise and it only costs $2000 more!"

People (well I for sure) associate lifts with a full rise. Seems if you want that you must always move up to the next tier of lifts if you have any chance of maxing out the weight limit on the current lift.

I tend to listen to my wife and go with the flow, and if it works out, it was meant to be.
Deals like this have a way of going smooth, or tossing up a road block. They either work or they don’t.

If you want to go forward, I would stick your lift on CL, or what sales media works the most effectively in your area. You might get an instant hit where is sells and paves the way to the upgrade. If not, just don’t force it and let it all fall into place on its own.
We all know that nothing is simple, and never seems cheap to do, but life is short and we all like our toys.

I would get more info on the drive and better close up pictures. Liquid when are headed down there. Go take it for a ride. It's over by Tampa. Did it get affected by Irma? Here is a link to boat trader but I'm sure you where already on it.

That's right. I'm flying to Ft Myers - Let me see if I can scrape a half a day to go check it out. I go down the 25th I think.

Agree. If things start repeatedly being a pain in the ass it's a bad karmic sign IMO.

+1.. It should be a fun exciting experience and be ending with wow factor. Its going to be probably the second biggest investment you make next to your home as we all know. So no worries if the planets don't align on this one.

yea understood and I would agree. I'm just peeved about what I was told about this lift when I bought it. He told me it should hold up to an R7 type boat. According to the manufacturer thats not really true. When I was talking with the guy I even asked about getting the 8800 UL to future proof upgrades. When he told me it would hold up to an R7 I thought great, It will be a LONG time before Im in the market for something bigger than that. I dont think my marina has a good handle on these lift specs.

Liquid, thats a really great offer but I feel bad about you checking about a boat for me. A guy you've never met and a boat that isn't something your shopping for.

That’s what we do here, TR.

Anyone of us would do that for folks on this site. It’s one of the reasons this forum is so special.

well there you have it then. I'm open to testing out boats for anyone in my area as well. Especially for sea trials :)

Ok...what you kids think of this one as compared to the 276? It doesnt seem as blingy and I like the tower look which this is missing. And the damn things pretty much weigh the same dry weight. The 276 will be more due to the tower though and bigger gas tank. I really like the flip down step on the swim platform though. The length appears to the same as well....though I'm sure the 262 includes the platform which isnt as integrated into the hull as the 276. and I'm guessing the freeboard on the 276 is more than the 262.

Yup, the specs for LOA and weight are almost identical. My opinion, FWIW, the 276 has great lines and the forward arch enhances the look. Same era 262 is nice, but doesn't do it for me. Looks a bit bloated. Here are the 2013 factory specs:

262
LOA - 27'7"(w/ platform)
Weight - 5425lbs

276
LOA - 27'6" (w/ platform)
Wight - 5500lbs

Wait it out for the one YOU love...it will be worth it.

I'm with you Colin....the one I love is the biggest, best layout color scheme I can afford. All these listed have that potential.

What I would kill for would be a A28. I think those are just downright sick looking. and that submersible platform looks awesome. Alas the prices on those are through the roof!

Also, agreed the lines on the 276 are more attractive than the 262 IMO. but still the 262 is a pretty boat.
