Official Intro
Official Intro
Hey Everyone,
Here is my formal introduction. Big Block helped me look for a boat and I narrowed it down to a 2006 250, loaded up with pretty much everything that was about a 12 hour round trip drive from me. My wife and I left at 1:30 am on Friday to make the trip. I have a 2017 F150 3.5 eco, 10 speed with the max tow package. On the trip there I got about 18 mpg. I typically do 5-10 over the speed limit.
So I met the owner of the boat, no test drives since we still have ice but maintenance records were all good seller was extremely nice. The unfortunate thing of not seeing a boat in person is that some people saying "immaculate condition' is my "good condition". There were also some other suprises that I didn't care for. Pictures were also nicer than in person. I actually almost walked away from the boat but after putting it into perspective on what I can do myself, the age of the boat(12 years), the possibility of running into the same thing again I pulled the trigger and hooked it up. The one thing I did not know was that the hour meter of the boat said 177 hrs but the motor actually only has about 100 hours because he didn't know about turning the key to accessory.
Towing the boat home, the truck squatted about 1.5-2 inches. The wind was pretty strong going along the lake and I averaged about 7mpg. I didn't pussy foot it home. I passed a couple vehicles hitting near 90 (Big Block should approve). However, I still held 5-10 over. It didn't feel like a huge boat except when I had to really step on it but everyone wants more power. Also stopping, I don't think the surge brakes are working very well, if at all. I honestly don't know shit about trailer brakes so I am hoping Big Block can help me out, wink, wink. For normal driving the ecoboost did great. I kept it in tow mode which gives you some decent engine braking and it seemed happy in 7th/8th gear.
So today my wife and I spent the day cleaning the inside really good(I am extremely picky). It needs a better buff job than I had the product for so I ordered some more aggressive pads and some 3M marine compound becasue the all the stuff in my arsenal was not cutting it, literally. I have a bunch of Chemical Guys compounds and pads. I also realized the bunks and carpet will have to be replaced soon becasue the trailer looks like it was outside for a long time in the sun. So it is a work in progress but so far I am happy. It just fit in my garage last night before the snow today!!

Looks awesome! Thanks for the pics too. If you need any help with brakes let me know, I've done both surge and EoH on my trailer in the 6 months I've owned it

I have a room for you.
Yes we can look At the brakes. The 222 trailer had much better brakes then my boat has. Mine are not that great but you can feel them.
Congrats on the boat. Did you offer him less?
I did that I few times. I knew this guy was a hard one to get to budge though. Yes I've had many boats that look better in pictures then in person. I think my 222 looked better in person.
Well hook up in a month when it gets above freezing.
I'm surprised it fits in your garage.

Re: Official Intro
Thanks guys!
BB I wasn't expecting there to be any issues so I had a cashiers check for the full amount vs bringing some cash. Live and learn.
As for the brakes, I didn't feel anything so I am thinking something is up.
My garage is pretty good size, around 1200sq ft. And the one stall is pretty large but I have cabinets, a big tool box and a 9ft door that would have made me a little nervous backing it in for the first time. I was a little nervous about the height!
BB if you want to stop by next weekend to check out the boat, let me know! My garage Is insulated and heated.

Re: Official Intro
Sounds good. I should be able to make that Happen.
Yes that's why I bring cash or most of it in cash. You only make that mistake once.
I did the same mistake to the boat I sold kenny. A 1999 200. I made the guy go to the time machine our I was walking. I drove to Indiana to get that boat.

I downloaded the same BBT (big block translator) app as you and this is what I got. Thunder has the app too!
time machine = ATM
