Re: New Member / New 343
Thanks for the resounding welcomes! Glad to find a bunch of like-minded, Cobalt fanatics!!
I'll try & answer some of the questions from above.....
Been around Cobalts my entire life growing up within 20 miles of the plant. This is our 2nd. Owned a great 1999 293 for 8 years before moving up to the 343. The 293 was & is an amazing SUV of boats that was loaded full of options (twin Volvo DP's, Genset, AC/Heat, porcelain head, SS windshield frame, etc.).
The 343 runs amazing, although I've only been out on it for the test run and the dip and run it up to our dock at Lake of the Ozarks. Runs right up to ~73 on the GPS with ease and very smooth ride. It came with a trailer I sold to a buddy with another 343 back in OK. Ours stays on the lift when not in use. There's plenty of trailer options at LOTO for any potential maintenance & repairs.
Our day on the lake consists of visiting local hotspots and just coving out near our place at the 41MM. The 343 will definitely give us some more range up & down the channel. From owning our 293, I discovered a windlass is a MUST as once you have that convenience, you'll never want to give it up. Plus a large swim platform & sun pad are more must-haves. The 343 fits the bill for sure. Plus, the 525's satisfies my desire for pushing the sticks to the dash.
Ytmsm - your spot on! I bought it from Barry out of OKC. I bet you recall the other color it used to have...
SOOOO much better now. To my knowledge, the black boot stripe with red hull sides was not an original option in 2006, but you see it all over now.
Eric55AMG - unfortunately, that was not us last weekend. Wish it was! Too bad there's another 343 just like ours! Ha! You'll find us more from the 31 to the 57MM at LOTO.
CHEERS!

Wow! Beautiful boat with a serious power plant. What is your top speed? You won't have any trouble with chop on Lake of the Ozarks. Welcome from Lake Cumberland.

I've seen 72 GPS with ease. Needs some chop to make the step work and release some water tension. I've heard 343's with 525's top out around 74.

Upper 50s is pretty fast in my book for a boat. 74....well thats just downright crazy time. I guess in that bigger boat it doesnt feel as life threatening.....?

I thought so! Barry is a good friend and very particular about his boats. You got a good one!
Did he show you his current ride? He has an Eleminator and just bought this MTI, and last fall sold a DCB that would run 130. He has a totally different mindset than me when it comes to boating. Needless to say he likes to go fast!

Yes, I heard he was shopping for an MTI. Glad he found one. Definitely a stand-up guy and was a pleasure to deal with.Ytmsn wrote: Wed May 09, 2018 7:32 am I thought so! Barry is a good friend and very particular about his boats. You got a good one!
