Fender covers
Fender covers
Do any of you use fender covers to prevent scratching? There are fleece ones out there that I would imagine do a good job but reviews are mixed mostly due to fading issues.

I use a 8 inch fender and recently stopped using the fleece.Joe wrote: Fri May 11, 2018 9:03 am Do any of you use fender covers to prevent scratching? There are fleece ones out there that I would imagine do a good job but reviews are mixed mostly due to fading issues.
They are great and soft but, they seem to hold every splinter or wood fiber from docks . That was worse rubbing on my hull than just a plain fender.
I recently recovered mine in the Cobalt nylon version and so far so good!

Re: Fender covers
Our uniform co. supplies us with them and wash them each week. I think they are made of cotton. Each of my techs use them.cmattj wrote: Fri May 11, 2018 9:35 amI use a 8 inch fender and recently stopped using the fleece.Joe wrote: Fri May 11, 2018 9:03 am Do any of you use fender covers to prevent scratching? Re: Fender covers
I just bought three fleece covers for my 12x35 fenders. I guess we'll see.
They'll make a great pillow if nothing else.

Man! 12x3?? That's some YUUUGE fenders! I wouldn't have a place to even store those big boys!Tuscany wrote: Sat May 12, 2018 6:51 am I just bought three fleece covers for my 12x35 fenders. I guess we'll see.

I run Polyform HTM-2, 8x20's on our 343 and they're plenty big enough.

Re: Fender covers
I was gonna say....12x35???? I didn't use fenders that big on my 52' boat and it weighed 48,000 lbs!Tuscany wrote: Sat May 12, 2018 6:51 am I just bought three fleece covers for my 12x35 fenders. I guess we'll see.

Re: Fender covers
That’s right.
..I got a brand new boat.. They're big, and don’t let a damn thing get next to my mirror finish. Not all docks are the same, and they are definitely different heights.
Actually, why do you guys use those little sample sized fenders? There is no way to be confident in a scuff free day with little fenders. Someone buzzing by making a huge wake? So what.
They easily fit in the ski locker.
