Re: Trading boats
Haha you guys are hilarious!
I think the 190 would be a little to small for us.
Take a look at this...let me know what you think.

That is Somali to what I have. 2007 212 but I have the smaller engine. This looks like a great deal with the 5.7 VP engine and a trailer. If I was still looking I would have seriously consider it.

Re: Trading boats
Not a bad looking boat - the 222 does come /w an in floor cooler that I love. If you like the side pass through and want something a little smaller the 212 would be a good option.tsouthard91 wrote: Tue Jun 12, 2018 9:18 am Haha you guys are hilarious!

Re: Trading boats
Sorry guys, had issue with uploading.
I love the 212. Only concern is the length of the boat.
Its 2ft 2" smaller than the 232 I had. But weights 300lbs more.

Not even sure why they continue to manufacture any other hull really... perfection was achieved by 2002.NautiGirl wrote: Tue Jun 12, 2018 9:14 am It would be perfect for a small family, maybe even a wife and husband w/o kids. Really about the best boat you can buy.

What does yours run top speed wise with the 5.0?Bobo87 wrote: Tue Jun 12, 2018 9:23 am That is Somali to what I have. 2007 212 but I have the smaller engine. This looks like a great deal with the 5.7 VP engine and a trailer. If I was still looking I would have seriously consider it.
Thinking this should run upper 50's with the 300horse

Re: Trading boats
I have an '07 212 with the 5.7 GI DP. Love the boat and it has plenty of power. With fuel and a few guests onboard it will run in the 53 to 54 MPH range, though that is per the gauges and not GPS based.
That price seems quite competitive. I paid a bit more last year for mine, though it was sitting on a 2016 trailer. Otherwise very similar, right down to the hours and options.
While I love my boat, I will say this. It is very comfortable for six or seven, but once you get past that you start wishing you had a bigger boat. My next boat will be a 232/242 or longer.

The most we ever have is 6. 4 people and 2 100lbs dogs haha
Weird question, but can your wife stretch her legs all the way out in the bow seats? My wife is 5'9" and she wants to be able to stretch out while cruising.

Re: Trading boats
I *think* there's enough room. The bow seating area is quite spacious and no one in my family has complained, and we're tall -- my wife is just shy of 6' and my 14-year-old son is already 6'2". That said, I'm two hours from the boat and if this is a 'must have' feature, let's see if Bobo can chime in.

I am 6'5" so I want to be able to have space in and around the boat.
Do you/anyone know if/where you can buy towers that they used for these back in the day?

Re: Trading boats
If you want a tower just find one that came from the factory.
Mine was 1 of 6 made in 2003. The gxi is super rare. Gi you can find. Sounds like my 220 work a garage factory tower and a bb is what you need. How bad do you want to blow your budget. Lol
Cycle you ready to sell yet. Lol

Taoithard91 - I love my 212. It is 2’ shorter than my ‘98 23LS that Harvey took but it didn’t have a swim platform. With the platform the 212 is the same overall length and I love having the full windshield. Top speed with the 5.0 is about 54mph with 1/4 tank of gas with smooth water and only one or two people. Normal operation is about 4oh at about 4800 RPM. The layout is awesome. Plenty of room and love the sun deck on the stern. Hope this helps.

Re: Trading boats
Yea, I have pretty much decided the GXI or HO will be impossible to find.
But I am set on the 496 I think. I think I can find a 220 with a 496 for under 30. Based on initial research.
As for the 212. Thanks Bobo87. Appreciate your information!
Where in Houston do you boat? I grew up boating on Lake Conroe, and lived in The Woodlands, so I am familiar with the Houston area.

Re: Trading boats
If you were in the Woodlands then you were practically in Conoreor at least by today’s standsards.
I am on Lake Livingston not to far from Conroe. Been there for almost 50 years. My parents bought land up there before the lake was even finished so hard to beat a convenient please to go.
I think the boat you are looking for is very reasonable but you will have to look hard. I had a guy laugh at me b/c I told him was looking for a Cobalt ‘06 or newer that was 21-23’ for under $35K. Considering I got mine for under $25K I wished I kept his number so I could float.
Point being keep looking until you find what you want. As Cobalt says “Comprise, one Nothing”. Or something like that.
Happy hunting and can’t wait to see the potos of your find.
