You can't catch a break. I guess call the guy that did it. I think it was too loose. The hole Dr Vinyl can fix that but you prob going to get it redone anyways.

Well good news, I called the vinyl guy and sent him pics and he said he's never seen that happen before, he thinks it looks terrible, and he doesn't want his work out there looking like that. I didn't even have to ask, he said I need to get it back to him to redo it. He's going to make it right, and I'm going to be flexible with his schedule when he's got some down time, probably towards the end of summer. That's a relief.

He thought maybe the foam that goes inside the piping. Was going to check with his supplier or something to see if they changed mfgs.

That is good that he is standing behind his work. The guy that did mine....before I bought it.... flew the coop, the guy I bought mine from needed some things fixed and and the guy just disappeared so.....thunder550 wrote: Mon Jun 04, 2018 5:14 pm Well good news, I called the vinyl guy and sent him pics and he said he's never seen that happen before, he thinks it looks terrible, and he doesn't want his work out there looking like that. Ouch, that's unfortunate. Any luck finding someone else to fix it?hoghead54 wrote: Wed Jun 06, 2018 11:02 am That is good that he is standing behind his work. There's a shop in Cedar City that does nice work and fixed it very reasonably.thunder550 wrote: Wed Jun 06, 2018 11:54 amOuch, that's unfortunate. Re: 1995 Cobalt 252 consolidated revitalization and fix-up thread
With warmer weather we've been enjoying floating out behind the boat, but with no rear facing speakers it's difficult to hear music playing from inside the boat. I don't want to cut holes out back, so I am going to try and mount some 4x6's behind the engine compartment vent grille on the port side. The starboard side is completely blocked by the bilge blower assembly, so both speakers will have to go on the same side. Bought some Polk marine rated 4x6s and pulled out the port side grille to try and come up with some mounting ideas. I can't flush mount them because the speakers are larger than the vent opening. Will probably have to make some kind of stand-off and either mount them to the inside of the grille opening or to the grille itself. Any ideas or suggestions?

Few more pics.
Oh, and this past weekend we took our boat up to Navajo Lake in northern New Mexico. My aunt lives up there, really pretty lake. I'll post some pics in the July pic thread. On that trip I rolled over the century hour mark since buying the boat....it was 387 when I purchased, now at 492.

I don't see any real good way to mount those without screws showing outside the boat and that would not be acceptable to me. But what about this.... It appears you have screws from the vents that protrude inside the boat. What if you made a mounting bracket from something like Starboard that was basically a ring the size of the speakers but made large enough to attach to the vents on their mounting holes. The speakers could then attach to the mounting ring. If you made some spacer blocks to stand the starboard plate off the grill a quarter to half inch you should get plenty of airflow for the blower intake.
Or.... I was at Toledo Bend Reservoir on the Texas-Louisiana border this past weekend at a friends lake house. Saturday we all took his beer-can boat, I mean his pontoon boat to a sandy beach on the lake shore. His built-in stereo is not loud enough to hear while in the water so he pulled out a waterproof Bluetooth speaker with great sound, set it on the rear deck facing the water, connected it to his cellphone and cranked it up. It sounded great and when finished he packed it up and away we went. I hate to admit it cuz it's not as cool as something built in but it was way, way easy.

I'm liking Nolas Idea. You are good at engineering but I fear the weight of those speakers will eventually break away going over chop.
I know.. I'm Debbie Downer but I just crank ours up too to the uncomfortable level inside the boat..
