Gatorstep vs SeaDek

Going to have aftermarket flooring put in on my new R7, when it eventually arrives.
Has anybody ever heard or used Gatorstep? Looks to be the same as SeaDek and about 20% cheaper.

Couldn't you get it during the order process?
Gator step does Malibu boats. Very good. Nauti just used a local and his is thicker than the rest.
I love mine so far other than it shows dirty foot prints.
I would have gone with that if I knew about it.
Aqua marine may give you a discount if you do the whole boat.

Good to know that Gator does malibu, has to be fairly good quality then.
As far as I know the only thing Cobalt does is the snap in and it isn't the teak look which I think will hide some of the foot prints and such. I don't like the snap in as much as I feel that you just have to pick it up and clean under it.
I thought I saw a thread where Nauti used SeaDek, self installed, though I didn't catch how it turned out. Was it from seadek from SCwake?

Ours is seadek material but not from SC wake... At the time they weren't doing the logos and we found a small local guy that would.

This was my inspiration and it was done by gator step

Any reason you went with seadek over Gator step? Can you tell a difference with the 8mm version over the 6? Anything you would do different if you did it again?

Mr. Nauti here - stepping into unknown territory - stuff like paint colors and interior design usually fall into what I call "arts and crafts" and are handled by Katie but lets give this a shot.

We went SeaDek because we found an installer in Louisville that frequently travels to our lake. It was easier to work /w him in person, and he offered to cut the cobalt logo when others would not. Also, I was ok /w doing the install of the platform and pass-through ourselves, but we will most likely have a pro template and install the interior of the boat so he is a good guy to know.

The engineer that designed the carpet on the 222 must have had a drinking problem because he placed the snaps on the outside of the opening for the cooler and ski locker. Due to their location the holes will be visible once we remove the snaps and install seadek. I did an ok job filling the holes in the pass through but they are now covered so I didn't have to be too precise. I would rather have someone who knows what they are doing with gel coat fill the interior holes since we will see them every day.

I am glad we went /w the 8mm, we held both the 6 and the 8 in our hands and there was a noticeable difference. Difficult to say if you would have been able to feel the difference once everything was installed in the boat, but the price difference wasn't much and the 8mm was advertised as being a bit more durable so why not?

As far as do-overs, I think we are pretty happy with how it all turned out. Install wasn't horrible, we did use the 3m 94 Primer on the deck no idea if it helped but I couldn't have hurt. Katie says the boat now looks 5 years younger, and we have gotten a ton of compliments on it at the lake. It's pricey for basically cut closed cell foam, but all of boating is expensive so why not?
