Went thru your thread again. Your upholstery looks great as mentioned earlier.
Just for my sanity, you are skipping the virtually impossible task of getting the nuts off the back of those long bolts holding the left & right seat backing correct?

Thank You. Still have work to do. Replacing the stern light now, trying to figure out tach and trim pump.
I am skipping the left and right seat backs till winter and then I'll probably give reaching those bolts a shot.

Well the coil shows it possibly is going to a tach amplifier. Wires may change color from there.
Ohm meter to verify from Sig out of tach back to coil. ( yep 15 feet of 18 gauge to connect both ends)
If your good then switch the riostat on the tach from cylinders select back and forth then back to 8 cyl..check one last time .. then it's time for new.

Re: My 262 Build
Back in the 90s I worked at a Mercedes Benz body shop. A power antenna from the same era has a very similar white cable. It is quite possible that a replacement antenna mast can be used and taken apart to salvage the white cable for our light mast. Just a thought. The other idea is to retrofit our light mast to the Mercedes power antenna assembly unit. I’ll have to look into it further. If I find anything I will let the group knowjuddmyers wrote: Tue Jun 05, 2018 7:15 pmHere you go:gwestphall wrote: Wed May 30, 2018 12:18 pm Mine is not operational. Light comes on but no movement. Just took delivery of the boat over the weekend and the marine dealer didn't seem optimistic that he could do anything about it. 2004 cobalt 240. Assuming it is the same as yours.
Am curious as to what steps you took to decide you couldn't fix it?
I haven't taken a close look at mine yet. Is it a sealed unit? does it look like it can be disassembled? I'll have to look at it if I'm out on the water this weekend. I'll remove it from the boat and take it home. When I've done a search on this topic it would appear that many folks have had problems with this unit and are unhappy with its quality.

That would be great. Mine works fine right now, but everytime it goes up I worry.gwestphall wrote: Mon Jun 11, 2018 6:48 pmBack in the 90s I worked at a Mercedes Benz body shop. Re: My 262 Build
Keep in mind that the Mercedes power antenna is probably only 3' long at best. I think our telescoping antennas are over 4'. Also, it's have to carry 2 signals to the light (power and ground where the radio is usually carrying 1 or none. . If anybody has a broken one lying around that they'd be willing to send /sell me, I'd love to dissect it. As I understand it, the weak link isn't the white band carrying power /gnd to the light, it's the telescoping sleeves of the mast, which are probably interchangeable with the manual version.
I had called innovative lighting to buy a replacement bezel for my manual version (my boat had previously been equipped with the power version, but was changed or before I bought it) and I spoke to the woman about why they discontinued them. What I gathered was that they went through too many gears with the factory warranty replacements they had to send (due to the weak masts) and it came time for them to make another injection molding tool for the gears and they didn't want to invest in it, so they discontinued them. But nowadays, I could probably 3d print the gears. The motor /gear side is probably the only thing that makes them different from the manual unit..
Just thinking out loud...

Slide, I have no doubt you could motorize my umbrella to deploy automatically if you wanted.

Re: My 262 Build
I have one that you can look at. Pics are in this thread. I would not be willing to sell it to you because if I can find a way to make it work, it is going back in the boat. You are correct in thinking that the weakness seems to be the outer mast itself. I have actually spit the inner cable on mine also. :/

Re: My 262 Build
You should send it to slide Judd. He'll make it strong enough to mount a barbecue grill, with flashing lights and unfurling banners, and it'll shine like a stripper pole.

Not that you noticed, but you might have not been looking too closely at the pole.

Re: My 262 Build
my light is mechanically sound, but the little black box is bad on mine. I had to bypass it to get it to go up and down. If I can't find a new control box, I may have some parts available.

Re: My 262 Build
There is a slide bolt type lock on the back of the seat back filler cushion. When the seat back is inserted, simply slide the 2 bolt type locks into the holes on each side of the swim platform.Dstegemoller wrote: Sat Apr 20, 2019 2:12 pm Any details of how the rear filler cushion seat back rest and engine cover all secure in place?
