Re: 262 Bilge Pump Wiring

Post by SAB220 »

I don't know if somebody can tell me how my existing pump is mounted, and how the SS plate is mounted and if that whole mess can be moved forward 6 or 7 inches. The boat is new to me and I've been working on other things but bilge but is on my list for 2019.

I do know the transom boat drain is too small for the oil drain fitting & hose (it just fits) and the hose has to fed out manually which defeats the purpose, of having a oil drain. Cobalt and Merc didn't address the oil drain

Seems I remember reading something about installing 2 bilge pumps and needing separate discharge lines where one pump doesn't back flow thru the other pump when it is not in use?

Is it possible to flow backwards through a bilge pump? I guess so, never thought about it before. Swing check valve x 2 with a wye? I just don't want to drill extra holes. Do I need to fire up Microsoft Paint(ughhh) again to draw another AWESOME diagram? Let me know.

You need a check valve or two separate discharge ports. It is 100% possible to flow backwards through a bilge pump.

1) it is. the perko plays no role in this circuit-it is just near the location of the fuse. The power for the pump is hooked to the incoming side of the perko (basically it’s wired directly to the battery). Both the manual and the float switch operate regardless of perko switch status. This IS the way it’s wired, I just don’t know where(physically) the one junction is located. This bugs me, and will until I find it.

Here are a couple of pics showing the bilge pump and the junction next to the switch...

Awesome! But... my boat doesn't have that junction point there. It must be somewhere around there, but I can't find it.

The no engine thing makes accessing the Bilge pump much easier! But, I think i will stick to the contortionist method I have been using.
