Stereo Replacement on 242

Anyone have experience replacing stereo unit, remote and speakers on a 242? Wondering if this is a do it yourself project or better to leave to the professionals?

I'm somewhat handy but had older amps that were suspect and I wanted the worn out or dead components properly identified and replaced. My wife talked me into not touching it and hiring it done. I replaced all 6 speakers with Kicker 6.5" marine speakers and did a fusion head unit and fusion wired remote. If I had done it I wouldn't have done the hole in the fiberglass to mount the usb/3.5 jack which is very handy. I had no idea that amps have gotten so much smaller! The two eclipse amps we took out were huge and heavy but the replacement amp which is a 6 channel Arc Audio X2 is half the size of one of the others. But wow did the upgrade make a difference. He did end up pulling out 8 guage wiring and replacing with 4 guage as well. He charged about $800 in labor on the water and had me ready on Friday night. Came back Saturday just to walk me through everything and answer any questions. I'm very happy I listened to my wife. Hi Honey!
