What are the “ Constant level” lakes in Texas? LBJ??

I visited my sister in Atlanta and east of her was Lake Oconee. It’s owned by Georgia power and fluctuates 6 inches as it runs electric gens during the day. Then the lower lake fills it back.

The back yards look like they’ll flood but never do.

Our lake is like a toilet bowl. It fills up really quickly, sometimes to the brim. Then it goes down about as quickly with no rain. We're down right now, but Driller isn't Travis down 15 or 20 feet? Maybe this weekend y'all will get some rain hopefully.

Right now 23.3 feet below full pool. I’ve seen it 82’ low, I could still boat from my slip, but the “lake” was a “river”.

As much as I admire the beauty of the Texas Hill Country and its lakes the water level fluctuations have got to be frustrating. I am in the Southwest Piney Woods of Texas onLake Livingston. 93,000 acres means plenty of room even when it is crowded. It is a bit more “rustic” is the polite way og saying it but with a relatively fixed water level I’ll take it.

Wow, that makes Lake Travis, at 18,930 acres, seem small! I was on Lavon Lake (21,400 acres) when we lived in the Dallas area, which was also rustic in the sense that there were no private docks and homes were set back from the shoreline. When the water level was too low (or too high) causing most of the ramps to close, it was really quiet out there (I think there are only 3 marina's, two of which are pretty small).

It looks like 6 out of 13 ramps are currently closed on Travis, but that doesn't seem to be affecting the amount of weekend traffic on the water!

Yeah, I grew up boating on Conroe, those East Texas lakes/reservoirs are massive compared to our Central Texas lakes. I went fishing last month on Sam Rayburn, that is a massive and awesome lake. Those lakes are quantity over quality for rec boaters IMO.

I agree rrfisher but convenience has it compromises.

I don't really have much of a choice at the present time. My boat is slipped on Travis and I don't own a trailer or a vehicle that can tow it reliably. I've been on some of the other lakes and size does make a huge difference and proximity to the large metro areas.

Well y'all can thank me for the rain. I finally get a free weekend and it looks like storms the whole time up until Sunday some time. Gonna try to make it out Sunday I guess. Post Labor Day boating is the best around here.

Yeah, but we need more of it to get the lakes back up to full. Looks like it has been mostly in the evening after the heats builds.

Well this whole event started Monday right after I got done washing the cars. Maybe if I wash them everyday we can get Travis back to where she needs to be.
