Sorry to hear you scraped your drive. Like others have said we all have done it. And the starting the boat with the boat in fwd. I’ve done that a couple times this season. Na it only counts when you drag the lower unit up the ramp completely. So your good now. Next year you just need to forget to put your plug in then your good to go. Everyone does that too. Then try to start it when it's not in neutral or without the kill switch in operate Mode. You have plenty ahead of you to catch up with us.
Electrical tape the hull plug to your steering wheel and you'll never forget it again. It is standard procedure at work. It ensures that water never builds up in the hull while ashore, and that the boat never comes off of the trailer without installing it.

You started a lot higher than most of us! My first boat was an early 90’s crownline 202. Paid a whole 4500 bucks for her. But it was the perfect boat for me cause I could smack it off just about anything and it didn’t really matter.
My 262 has the offshore controls. So 1 lever for shifting then 1 for throttle. Something cobalt doesn’t put on their boats anymore. Which I will severely miss if I ever get a newer boat

Not if you are doing it properly. Before pulling into the slip jump up on the boat turn on the battery switch. Turn on bilge blower( it needs to run for 4 mins before starting the boat), remove hull plug from the wheel. Get off the boat install the hull plug, remove the stern straps, back the boat down the slip, lower drive, start engine and launch the boat without tieing up the slipway for others. When you do it for a living it becomes second nature.
Isn't the Dodge 1/2 ton diesel a smaller one, like 3L, with a lot of torque and average hp numbers? I remember thinking it was similar to our Touareg, which pulls our 210 just fine and still gets 29mpg when not towing.

Yes, thankfully, my first boat was a scratch'n dent boat too. I managed to hit the same rock twice on different days destroying the dual prop. That took me a long time admit.
