Trip Delay

Post by vans »

My plan was to leave last night for the Inland Waterway in Northern Michigan, 300 miles away,
My truck decided to shed it's center support bearing on driveshaft on way to work yesterday morning, no warning, just decided to come apart
I pulled driveshaft off, put truck in four wheel drive drove it home.
What I found was, I have a non-serviceable driveshaft, and need to purchase a new one.
Only set me back 600.00, that's just the driveshaft. Truck has 70k miles, F150 FX4
I guess I was lucky it didn't happen far from home
I found a shop close to home that will have new shaft ready at noon today, hope to be on road this evening

At least it happened before the trip. Not sure what year your truck is but I would make sure it's not covered under a 100k powertrain warranty before having a aftermarket place replace it.

Good for you Liquid. Good you got a quick replacement, and good you weren't on the side of the road with your whole tribe loaded and it pouring down rain 200 miles from home.

Trip went fine, the Inland Waterway in Northern Michigan is a beautiful place, my wife surprised me with some friends coming up.
59 miles of water, plus we were out in Lake Huron

That's really pretty Vans. I was there about this time last summer but was on a bike instead of a boat. What was the water temp?
