Nice find with the Merc blue engine mated to a Merc counter-rotating prop racing drive, bbp! Very rare to see that.

Not going to lie I called on it today. It’s a consignment boat and I was told she will do upper 60’s with a load of people and fuel.

Re: 272 for someone.
It has a lot of pluses .. BB and myself tossed the keys back and forth for a minute yesterday
.
But there are limits and responsibilities that go along with owning a blue motor with cmi exhaust .( It also has full time open exhaust which means no CC) . It does have single ram hydraulic steering so she’ll be very stable.
So if anyone is understanding of what this 272 represents it’s a great one. The only con is going through the top end at 350 hrs and a complete freshen by 600 hrs.
Worth the Money ?..... Yes!
Limited buyer market?..yes!
Sweet low profile all white 272 with a nasty rumpta idle?
Yesssssss!!!!! So? Who’s going in???

That's a pretty big Con....but hey it's the only negative so lets do this!cmattj wrote: Tue Jan 15, 2019 9:24 pm The only con is going through the top end at 350 hrs and a complete freshen by 600 hrs.
BBP I know you are in, you can move all your new stereo gear - and will still be able to hear it over the exhaust! Plus we will still get to call you BBP - not being forced to change your name to SmallBlockPower when you buy a 6.2 is worth the $60k to pick this up.

He will shoot you straight about the boat. One of a kind. Special build to have the Mercury blue motors. Like the 282 that's on Table Rock with twin Mercury 525's !!! As far as I know the only one Cobalt built.

I called this mooring and I put in a offer.
I said only 1 contingency is Matt can add another 525 next to it. Twins baby.
Ok they turned down my offer. I'll make another one later. I have to go check out my lamborghini today first is only $120,000 with a killer stereo I think they have $15k in it. I'm pay pictures in a bit.

Re: 272 for someone.
As awesome as this boat would be to have for the power it is not something I'd love all the time. My wife would hate the fact that the exhaust was open all the time. She yells at me to shut the captains call every time I flick the switch. and it doesn't have a tower. With how hot it gets on Table Rock no way would I own a boat with the bimini.gdane wrote: Wed Jan 16, 2019 9:58 amTGrace, I know the owner of Central Crossing Marine Chris Maher Great guy has been around the Shell Knob area for a long time!tgrace98 wrote: Tue Jan 15, 2019 6:58 pm Not going to lie I called on it today. But for the right person this is an amazing boat. They already did the top end so you are good on Maintenance for awhile!

T grace After looking at the posting I think I've seen this boat fueling at Campbell's point. Also the boat does have a bimini top. But you are right about the open pipes especially on our sunset cruises..tgrace98 wrote: Wed Jan 16, 2019 12:07 pmAs awesome as this boat would be to have for the power it is not something I'd love all the time. He does....I dont know about anyone else but i get the same way. I was in an absolute frenzy of emotions last year hunting mine down. I almost felt cheated because the one I ended up buying wasnt one I "identified". It just fell in my lap by chance of me having a discussion with the dealer about getting into a bigger boat lift. Its an exciting experience.....and a stressful one. Stressful in the sense that I get overly excited and it impacts other facets of my life. You know....forget to pick up the kids from school, ignore your wife while she's talking to you, staring at your phone constantly, trying to pick apart every reason why you think this is the deal for you, wondering how much new boat gear you'll need to purchase, etc.....all that excitement is taxing....lol.
Tgrace...draw this out as long as possible. Keep us entertained

Re: 272 for someone.
It's a neat boat for sure but...………
For the cost of a freshen and complete Whipple on my 502 Mag, I can bank/save 30k and run upper 70's, maybe break 80 AND still have my Bravo 1, CC exhaust, etc.
It's a neat looking setup for SURE, no denying the stainless headers and blue engine and the appeal of the efi 525. It's a rare bird! It's just that for a dollar to dollar comparison and bang for the buck(doing more with less approach) the Whipple kit would be the win. That and I think it's hard to beat the looks, ride and hull of the 252. I've always been a "go fast" guy, I love performance but I'm just not sure the price of admission would be worth it for me personally, picking up 5 MPH for a boat without trailer that would cost me upwards of 40k OOP just doesn't seem worth it. I wouldn't be happy. If you're going from a 55 MPH boat to a 69 MPH boat, that for sure might be worth it. For 5 MPH, no.

Re: 272 for someone.
Major sleeper for sure, but the only time people see my engine is when I'm working on it, lol. As nice as Cobalts are they really aren't the 'look at my engine, hatch up every time I park' kinda boat'.
I agree with lightning, for $12-13k you can have the Whipple stage 1 kit installed and be pushing 600+hp from the 502 Mag, and oddly I am partial to the 252 design.
