Its 8 degrees and there is snow on the ground. Katie is the member of the Nauti household that usually gets seasonal depression, but seems like its hitting me this year.

Thinking about warm weather activities got me shopping for new toys, which ended up in me spending money on new irons. Know several people on here golf, curious what you guys are playing

I just ordered a set of Mizuno JPX 900's - last year's model but got a pretty good deal. Hoping they get here by Saturday so I can at least hit some balls.

So those of you who do golf - whats in the bag?

Nice purchase! I’m in desperate need of some new irons as well. Actually plan on hitting the golf expo next week so I can see what’s out.

Depending on what you want, check out 2ndswing.com. The 900s are last years model and have been replaced by the 919's. I hit both and actually liked the older model better.

I hit the M4's and didn't like them, either did Mrs. Nauti. I havent gotten a chance to hit the M6. Be interested to hear what you find at the expo. We went to one in Cnci and it was total junk hopefully you have better luck. Katie did win a long drive contest, so I guess it was worth the trip to the show?

Yeah I’m not expecting much out of this one as well. Hitting balls into a net off a piece of turf doesn’t do it for me.

I’ll for sure be checking that site out and eBay. I don’t get enough rounds in a year anymore to justify spending a ton on clubs

Don't discount hitting balls into a net - our show had a trackman setup - it was cool to see actual launch angles spin rates and ball speeds. Well cool and a bit depressing.

I’ve been an avid golfer since I was 14, although last summer the new boats, jet skis, and home put golf far down my list. I didn’t play any rounds in Minnesota until July 10th and only got in about 20 rounds at my club before the season ended in early November. This winter I’ve been playing/hitting balls on the two indoor simulators at my club at least once or twice each week.

Here’s my current set up:

If you count, that’s 15 clubs. I pull one of my wedges or my 4 or 5 iron depending upon the course. I’m lucky that I have 54 holes of the best resort golf in the Midwest within 2.5 miles of our lake home. The Classic at Madden’s is typically ranked about 60th in the top 100 U.S. courses you can play by Golf Digest. The other 2 courses at Cragun’s resort are almost as good and I will likely play about 35 rounds each summer up at the lake and hopefully another 35 at my club in Minneapolis.

I feel like I need to play golf to 'fit in' with the Executives I'm spending more time with these days. I'm an average player most days using ancient clubs I inherited. Is there a decent set out there for the infrequent average player that needs to schmooze with Top Brass at the company? I wish it were more like the old days where executives went clay shooting or upland hunting for customer relations, lol.

If would look at the Callaway Pre-Owned website. They're the only manufacturer I know of that has there own pre-owned site and I've bought many clubs from them in the past including my current driver and fairway woods. I'd go with a used set of Steelhead XR's(or the older XR for under $300) for about $325, an XR 16 driver for $125, and a matching fairway wood or two. If you want to go a little more expensive on the driver look at the Rogue or Epic drivers.

Good choice on the JPX. When I was refitted a few years ago I was between those and what I ended up with which are the Titleist AP1s. Trackman data lead me towards the AP1 over the JPX.

All Callaway for me. Big Bertha irons and Diablo woods. The Spousal Unit plays with Adams. Both sets are 3 years old this year. One of my (non) resolutions is to play more this year. Hoping to get a round in in the Bahamas in March and we are going back to Maui in April where we always play at least a couple of rounds.

My setup is primarily Ping. Although my backup bag at the in-laws house in the carolinas is Callaway heavy.

Have way too many putters in backup as well. Went on a Scotty Cameron and Bettinardi run a few years ago and have a stockpile.

Yes - the pre-owned site is a great place to shop for clubs if you are are Callaway guy or girl. They do really good sales on black friday, think last year was buy one get one free MacDaddy Wedges. Buddy of mine bought an iron set from the site and they showed up /w the plastic still covering the grips.

Well, I'm not good enough to be any 'insert brand here' guy, lol, I just don't want to show up with my father in laws 30 year old Pings when the CIO invites me to play a round...

So, I'm in a role now where my boss literally plays 4 rounds every weekend and expects me to play with customers 20-25 times a year. All of this is on travel, so it makes sense to rent clubs and I can expense it. My challenge, which is going to sound ungrateful, is I don't really like golf. I played as a kid and on the high school team, but it's just not my thing. I'm not good/great/bad, and would probably be decent if I applied myself. After playing with my boss who is a single digit handicap (I literally hadn't held a club in 12 years), I commented that I should probably take some lessons---his words were---you don't need lessons, you just need to hit more. I'm ok with it for about 4-5 holes then I totally lose interest and focus.

Any one have suggestions that might keep my head in the game?

PS--would be much more at home on a sporting clay course as mentioned earlier
