New member in oregon

Post by Whataboutbob »

We sold our searay 270da this past fall and have been searching for the next boat since.we have been mooring seasonally at Detroit lake and week ending abourd the searay. This past summer we were able to put a deal together to buy a cabin a couple blocks from the marina. Part of the decision to buy the cabin was to decrease our boat investment, mostly the wife's thought. We have struggled with making a decision on our next boat and there have not been many options.
We drove to Coeur d’Alene this past weekend and bought a 2000 246 with a 7.4 Volvo duo. There was no trailer so the dealer is ordering a new trailer that will not be in for a few weeks at which point they are going to meet me half way. The dealer, hagadone marine, has been great and represented the boat very accurately. I have always admired cobalt boats, especially since you don't see many in our area, and am anxious to get it home. Even more anxious to get it on the water.

Welcome from Oklahoma and welcome to the Cobalt Club! I used to own a 240 before I got my 262.
Remember pics or it never happened! And pics of your new place at the lake too. We're all picaholics around here, it's what we get through the winter with. And spring. And summer. And fall...

Welcome from California!

Sounds like you made some big changes and rewarded yourselves with a nice one. I’ve met the folks at Hagadone marine at they are one of the best in the Dealer service world, and a Big Cobalt seller!

Here’s Bobs boat . See we are here to help.

Very nice!! Awesome shape!

I’m only slightly disappointed you didn’t get a sailboat. “Look at me! I’m sailing! I’m a sailor!”

Looks like I'm late to the party on this one. Hellooooo Whataboutbob. Welcome to the Cobalt Chat forum. So glad you found us!

You are going to make some great memories on your 246. Matt's got you off to a great start with some pics and like the others have said, post more. We love them here!

How do you plan on using her primarily? Watersports? Lounging? Cruising? ...all of those? :D

Looking forward to more of your posts. Welcome aboard mate!

Thanks for the welcome, comments, input, and addition of pictures of my boat. We were on our way home and my wife says we didn't take a single picture! 900 miles round trip and no pics. We are supposed to get the boat home in the middle of March after the trailer arrives. Every time I introduce myself it is either "oh it's you bob" or "what about bob" soooo. Here's a pic of our recently liberated searay

Here are a couple pics of the cabin. Just after we took posession and new deck. The cabin is 650 sq ft with 800 sq ft deck. We replaced all deck surface and about half of the support framing.

Most of our boat time is lounging and swimming but have spent some time in the San husband Canadian islands cruising in the past.

Great pics of your Sea Ray and cabin, WaB. Love the extended swim platform on that boat. :D

Your cabin looks very serene too. And yes, what a deck! Looks like a great place to get away. 👌🏻
