I know its normal for you guys to drive out on the ice, but for us southerners it sounds about as appealing as eating a lizard.

I’m with you YT,
We can regularly snowmobile across Chautauqua lake. I have many times in the past to get from point A to point B. I won’t go out there anymore, no mater how thick. Too many deaths in the past tell the older “inner me” to just go around..

Re: February Pics
It's damn safe once the ice gets to a foot thick. Gull Lake where we were last weekend had over 11,000 vehicles out on the lake 10 days ago like they do every year for a fishing contest. There are 896 lakes in Cass County Minnesota where our home is and the last time someone died from going through the ice was 20 years ago. Minnesota as a whole has been averaging about 3 deaths per year from vehicles going through the ice compared to about 16 boating deaths per year and another 45 each year from drowning in lake/rivers. Going through the ice almost always happens early or late in the season when anyone with common sense is no longer be on the ice.Ytmsn wrote: Tue Feb 05, 2019 6:34 am I know its normal for you guys to drive out on the ice, but for us southerners it sounds about as appealing as eating a lizard.

Re: February Pics
Crazy weather here in Kentucky - we went from 0 degrees with a windchill of -26 to 60 degrees and Sunny last weekend. I was able to get out and play some golf and also got quite a bit of work done on the boat.
Golf was crazy - the course we played had several holes with forced carry over water - or should I say ice. Since the water was still frozen any ball that normally would be wet just bounced and rolled on the ice. Group behind us had a ball land maybe 25 yards short and it rolled this close to land.
The fairways were also a bit damp, this was a 3 wood off the tee, Katie already out drives me, and no roll really hurt my distance.

Re: February Pics
In other news I spent about 4 hours working on the boat. Cleaned up the rats nest of factory wire behind the dash, pulled out as much as I could but a lot is just now zip tied up and out of the way.
Got the battery switch situation figured out, and got all the new power and ground wires routed and connected. Wasted about 30 minutes when I discovered that I crimped the wrong size ring terminal on one of the ground wires. Said a few four letter words, but luckily I had all the tools and had left enough extra cable that I was able to change it out.
Drilled holes and got 4 of the 6 in boat speakers in. They look really good. You guys are going to laugh at me, but I had no idea how hard drilling fiberglass was on drillbits. I started /w a brand new bit, and after 20 holes it was done. Need to make a lowes trip, but thats nothing new.

I went with the identical speakers on my rebuild. Very happy with the sound. Didn't use the red inserts though.NautiGirl wrote: Tue Feb 05, 2019 12:09 pm In other news I spent about 4 hours working on the boat. Re: February 2019 Pics
I've been at the same pool Tusc, we stayed there when we did the whole Disney thing about 4-5 years ago. Nice place. I mostly sat in the lounging chairs kicking back a few (or several) at night after the torturous days at the parks. I dont care if I ever go back to Disney World.,Tuscany wrote: Thu Feb 07, 2019 2:11 pm Thursday return has been scratched. Re: February 2019 Pics
Lots of flexibility this time of year in our biz.. Zero flexibility in the spring through the 4th.
It’s a Disney thing..We’re here often, like at least twice a year and usually 3 times. I’m not too interested in the parks. Parks are slow torture for adult men..
I’ll do one, maybe two. My kids have friends who work here, and it’s party time. We also have a group of friends that make it an annual vacation together.

Re: February 2019 Pics
Awesome place to stay! We’ve enjoyed it a few times in the last 6 years. My reality was waking to 16 below zero his morning with 6-10 inches forecasted for Monday through Tuesday. We leave Thursday for 4 days in Naples and I can’t wait. These last 5 weeks have been brutal here and my grill looks lonely!Table Rockin wrote: Thu Feb 07, 2019 2:58 pmI've been at the same pool Tusc, we stayed there when we did the whole Disney thing about 4-5 years ago.
