Lol, it's been uncovered 10 years outside so why start now! I get replacement knobs from Weber every 5 years or so when they get faded and it looks as good as new!

Haha way to be. My Weber is the same way. 10 years old rarely covered from the element. Yet fires right up every time.

In other news I spent about 4 hours working on the boat. Cleaned up the rats nest of factory wire behind the dash, pulled out as much as I could but a lot is just now zip tied up and out of the way.

Got the battery switch situation figured out, and got all the new power and ground wires routed and connected. Wasted about 30 minutes when I discovered that I crimped the wrong size ring terminal on one of the ground wires. Said a few four letter words, but luckily I had all the tools and had left enough extra cable that I was able to change it out.

Drilled holes and got 4 of the 6 in boat speakers in. They look really good. You guys are going to laugh at me, but I had no idea how hard drilling fiberglass was on drillbits. I started /w a brand new bit, and after 20 holes it was done. Need to make a lowes trip, but thats nothing new.

I went with the identical speakers on my rebuild. Very happy with the sound. Didn't use the red inserts though.

Yep have the same speakers in part of my boat. Driller you can purchase different colors of JL tags! Like the look Nauti!! Fiberglass is hard on bits damn one router hole without a diamond bit and it's finished.

Yeah, mine came with an assortment of colors. I just went with the black. I was giving Nauti a hard time.

Always kept mine covered when I first bought it. But those covers get stiff and brittle in the winter. When my cover was shot I did not replace it and the grills been naked ever since without any trouble.

Wishful thinking on my part but the average high temp does hit 50* on April 2nd and reaches 64* by the end of April. A lot better than the average high of 26* we have now!!! If all goes well the R5 will be in the water in late April.

Unless we have a very warm March, which we can always count on as going out like a lion, we have ALL of Lake Erie’s ice to deal with. The Power authority installs an ice boom which stretches across the mouth of the Niagara River. It holds Lake Erie’s ice from going into the river and damaging the electric generating turbines making power. So when they do remove it, there is still a lot of ice that can accumulate in spots on the river. It’s removal is determined on the amount of ice left on the lake. Usually it’s not an issue at all. Other times, we’ll, it can delay things..

It's funny. On one hand we like when Lake Erie Ices over so it doesn't lose water from weather systems sucking the water up and dumping it on land for us to shovel. On the other hand it can't warm up fast enough for us to get out there in May for boating without wet suits. (talk about shrinkage) 🥶
