How did we end up here? I blame my grandfather!

Yep, it's my grandfathers fault for sure! I love summers in MN and for boating it's hard to beat with the 12,000+ lakes. We were happy to leave after 20 years in California but as soon as our youngest graduates from high school in 2023 we are spending 6+ months in Naples Florida every winter. I just looked at the climate data for Naples and their lowest average high is 74* and last year they only had 11 days where the high temperature was below 70*!

6 months straight is a long time in WASP central..
Although this last 10 day trip, the weather was beyond perfect where I guess I could deal with it... We try to go 10 days a month.
I would be good leaving on the 1st of the year, but I would have to come back a few times. Too many friends here, and none there. If we had some friends from home near us, I’d be just fine with a straight duration.

BB, you need to sell, and buy a place near me and set up shop. So many dealerships there looking for expert techs and writers...the fun we could have and the sh!t we could talk.. there would always be a place for the core to visit and boat..

That looks like it would be a great fire pit under all that snow John. I know we get much use out of ours. Love when my son brings his guitar down as we listen to 70's & 80's rock & roll riffs by the fire...with no electronic devices.

Hmm. I do have a ukulele I've been meaning to learn what to do with. I had been thinking it would be better on the boat, with people being a captive audience and all...

But yeah, the fire pit is fun. And four Adirondack chairs made using plans very similar to Norm Abrams' from the New Yankee Workshop.

I had a great winter afternoon Nordic skiing for a couple hours with my daughter on the 9 mile bike trail near our house. She’s in her first year on the JV Nordic ski team at her high school so she loves to get out and enjoy the fresh snow which is plentiful. It’s only my 2nd time out this year Nordic skiing which also makes it the second time in the last 35 years! It brought back memories of skiing with my dad back in the ‘70’s.

I loved downhill skiing, and I love looking at nature in the wintertime. But CC skiing doesn’t look like a lot of fun the second you turn around to head back..And around here, you might have to fight off a coyote or two.. I love to ski trails in the winter, as long as the mode of transportation is 1,200 CC Turbo powered.🌪🌪
Always an open invite YT. I’ve got two of them, along with proper clothing and helmets.

But CC skiing doesn’t look like a lot of fun the second you turn around to head back..And around here, you might have to fight off a coyote or two.. I love to ski trails in the winter, as long as the mode of transportation is 1,200 CC Turbo powered.🌪🌪

I’m totally with you as someone who grew up with snowmobiles parked in the front yard all winter and I’m also a longtime diehard downhill skier including many cat/heli trips into B.C. My next door neighbor has a Ski Doo MXZ TNT 850 Etec that I rode most recently on Super Bowl weekend. I haven’t figured out what sleds I want to buy yet but something will be coming in the next year.

Any new sled is a great sled. I like the turbo Arctic Cats/YamaCats.
Ski- Doo makes a great sled, maybe the best all around snowmobile, but they don't use a four stroke turbo engine that can be turned up and easy 250 horsepower with a tune and exhaust can. The new triple turbos are dynoing 200 out of the crate. I'm not sure what a tune will do on them, but I would imagine 300 would be easy.
As an older guy who may lose ground to the kids in the trails, I can reel anyone back in when we get back to the open fields..
