My Question was “ Why does the plywood they are using have knots that seem to be loose? I can almost pick them out ?”

Marine grade in their description will probably mean .60 treated 3/4" sanded plywood. It doesn't mean the wood plied together is clear and without gaps. Treated plywood won't rot, but it will warp and separate.
Just no, no place for wood at all. Even if it lasts till the rapture, it will attract algae, dirt, scum and whatever will attach and grow on an organic and porous surface, along with the accompanying aroma..

100% agree. I had 2 crownline’s with treated plywood and carpet for floors and both were starting to rot so I sold the boats. I will never buy a boat again that has any wood in it.

Hey Matt, thanks for sharing. Looks like the boat mfts. are getting a committee from congress to do their design work. Sorry, no politics, I know. But where are they coming up with this goofy looking stuff?

Lol, love all the comments about the plywood and how hideous all pontoons look compared to a real watercraft. When I bought our Marker One 2 years ago my wife was a bit puzzled why we needed another boat and I had to educate her on on how ugly the Marker One is even though it is made by Cobalt. I’m happy to say there is no plywood on my Marker One but it still looks like a Pontiac Aztek!

Just trolling some action here while we’re all trying to survive winter depression.

My dealer is on calm Chautauqua Lake. He’s also a larger Bennington dealer. When I was deciding on which Cobalt to order, he showed me a vid of some Bennington platform pontoon doing all kinds of tricks like I’m going to be impressed .....and like it was going to survive on Lake Erie when Lake Erie does Lake Erie things.. Maybe was trying to kill me..

He thought it was an awesome boat and asked what I thought...........

When I bought our Marker One 2 years ago my wife was a bit puzzled why we needed another boat and I had to educate her on on how ugly the Marker One is even though it is made by Cobalt. I’m happy to say there is no plywood on my Marker One but it still looks like a Pontiac Aztek!

Bum - you get a 'toon pass as you already own another Cobalt. I'd love to have a Living Room on the water for the dusk cruise.

Lol, thanks! I do love the Marker One and would have never bought it if wasn't made by our friends in Neodesha. It's so damn wide, roomy, and solid that it definitely the preferred boat for a dinner/sunset/party cruise. We feel fortunate to have it parked alongside the R5 and last summer both boats were being used at the same time on many occasions. My son's college is only 180 miles south of our lake home and his buddies are starting to figure out that it's a fun place to hang out. He was up there this weekend with his roommate, girlfriend, and another couple friends so I'm sure the keg is a little lighter! I can only imagine what this summer will be like with most of his friends within a 2-hour drive - beer and booze expenses will be up this summer but that is why we built it!

I have an understanding how the Marker One brand from Cobalt failed to be competitive as im sure we all do. ( We heard a tid bit at the factory tour as well ). The consumer either wouldn't understand the build process or even care about the materials difference. This allows other MFG brands to price point their version with appearance but not the longevity in the product. Cobalt bowed out proudly as a result.

Ive seen enough this last weekend to fully respect Cobalt's Marker One build, and vision for this arena of watercraft.

So MN ...When Liquid, Myself and the gang make it up there this June ( Just for the week .. don't worry well be gone by July ) remind me to post some pics of the inner workings of the Marker One.
