If Slide can get me the prototype by the middle of next week, I will have pics and a review by the 8th.

Re: Stern Umbrella options for my 282?
Just picked them up from the plater. They look good, but I need to check fit and add the helicoils when I get home from work. Assuming the nickel plating didn't mess with the fit (shouldn't have), they will ship out tonight or tomorrow morning.

Looks perfect slide. I just checked my tracking number and mine gets here Wednesday. I'll have it on the boat for demo Saturday. This forum is great, I started this thread a barely a month ago it's now been machined and shipped. As a group of like minded people (freaks), we really should take time to appreciate what an asset this forum is to our hobby (addiction).

Your not too far from the bridge then. We are at a smaller complex called Heron Bay. My adapter is also set to arrive on Wednesday. What umbrella do you have for it?LOTOHEAD wrote: Mon Apr 01, 2019 2:29 pmHey I just noticed your at the 21MM, we are at the 17MM at Indian Point. I will be at the lake this weekend to listen to my newly installed captains call exhaust and test fit the stern umbrella. Good luck and can't wait to see how it works out for you. Slide did an awesome job of making these for us!

I definitely do.. but 20 years in product design and development has taught me the benefits of under promising and over delivering.

Re: Stern Umbrella options for my 282?
I know Heron Bay well! We'll be all over that area this weekend if the rain holds off. We will try to get an umbrella at Sams or Wally world before then. Looks like it may be boating weather if the rain holds off. It would be funny to get a picture using the umbrella for rain instead of sun. I would love to hear your captains call, our 282 is candied red and white if you see us out and about I expect a sound demoPatriot 8713 wrote: Tue Apr 02, 2019 1:11 pmYour not too far from the bridge then. Just make sure the umbrella pole is 1.5" per Slide
I would be glad to do a sound demo. I'll PM you so we don't clog up this thread.

Re: Stern Umbrella options for my 282?
First of all a big thanks to Slide (Chris) for taking on this project and LOTOHEAD (JR) for getting the thread started.
Shipping was fast and the packaging was really well done.
I bought a 10' umbrella off amazon and the link is posted earlier in this thread. The umbrella is very well made and seems to be a high quality product.
The adapter is for a 1.5" umbrella pole. The fitment is pretty tight and the ID of the adapter measures out at 1.515" and 38.481mm. The pole measured out at 1.5" and 38.1mm. I like the tight fitment since you really don't need to worry about wind pulling it out of the adapter and I bought a 2 piece umbrella where I can leave the bottom piece in the adapter which makes setup pretty quick. Slide does have a thumbscrew threaded into the side and a threaded bolt setup for those that want to drill all the way through their pole. He supplies both the thumbscrew and the bolt along with thorough instructions. The setup is very professional!
There is s little bit of play up and down because of the twist and lock setup, but no more than the factory ski pylon.
If you have a 1 piece pole, you might have an issue getting it in and out easily. I am sure Slide can come up with something if you decide to go that route. I did not try any lubricant since I planned on leaving it in anyway.
The setup is awesome and will keep my balding head from burning even more. It will also make the back of the boat usable on the hottest of days.
If you have the twist and lock setup, you cannot go wrong with this one.
Slide only made 4 protoypes and this weekend I met up with LOTOHEAD at Lake of the Ozarks and we had 2 of them at the same dock. It was great meeting him and his family. They have a really sweet red 282. He wanted to hear my Corsa exhaust to try and convince his wife Sara to give him the green light for the captains call setup. We will have to wait and see how that went. She seemed pretty surprised at how loud it was when I fired it up.
I would post the video of the exhaust, but cannot get it to work. How do you have to save an iPhone video to load?
all 3 pics are saved with the correct rotation, but for some reason the one will not post correctly. Can someone fix this for me?

That looks great, Patriot! The umbrella is really nice - I loce the vents - it shouldn't catch nearly as much wind.
Man, I love the 282's. A 282 with twin big blocks is still one of my favorite boats.
