Trailer modification ideas for R7 Surf

I must be missing something.. why are you so worried about so much extra weight and structure? Isn't the point of the request simply to setup the trailer so that he has a no-contact setup during loading and unloading and then after loading/unloading he can return the trailer to a state where it provides extra protection for the drive? With those steel tubes, it's as if you guys expect NE Zach to enter a derby with the trailer!

I'm not a structural engineer by any means. Lol
So is all of this extra metal structural. Add the supports to the main outside frame. I can't tell if they're are any supports on the inside pieces. If not all good. Then just add a extention to the end of the trailer with a beam running to the other side and pin it in place. I think that would work.

BB, I think your idea is exactly what I would do. I just don’t know if steel tubing is strong enough to handle the twist flex without cracking welds. I would probably reinforce the mains with C-channel in the rear.

Haha, every tube built trailer I’ve ever owned has cracks in the welds.. we surely don’t want Zack to see sparks from a dragging the out drive down to the propellers..
