Cobalt 25sc (outboard) - bottom paint?

Post by hafalel »

I’m keeping the boat in saltwater and was wondering if anyone bottom painted their cobalt before. I am getting a lift but curious of the paint experience. Thanks

Hello hafalel. Welcome to the CobaltChat forum. So glad you found us!

We are fresh water boaters so can't help you with the bottom paint question. Others here have gone the lift route and we do have a few bottom painters. Some boat lift discussion here.

Others will chime in.

Any pics of your Cobalt?

Welcome aboard mate.

I looked at a 252 that was bottom painted, not a fan, but if you're wet slipping in salt you don't have much of a choice.

edit: looks like it's still for sale, which isn't shocking after having gone and looked at it. This will give you a feel for how bottom paint looks on a Cobalt. In this case it's ready for a fresh coat.

If you are putting it on a lift then I do not see the point in bottom paint. And as others have said it’s ugly. Normally bottom paint is for boats that are to heavy to be kept on a lift.

Hi, I boat in Florida with my 25SC and keep on a lift as not to have to paint the bottom. One, this deducts value when you want to sell or trade, and second, it just doesn't look as nice a a clean gel coated bottom.
