Grease Everywhere
I had the bearings and seals replaced on my trailer hubs recently. I drove the trailer with my 262 on it home about 400 miles. When I got home, there was wheel bearing grease all over the rims and tires. Is this sign the seals or bearings failed already?

Re: Grease Everywhere
I'm no expert, but I'd say someone over filled and blew the seals out.

Re: Grease Everywhere
Yea now looking at that they overfill Ed them badly. Might need new bearing buddy end caps. There's not much to them and they come apart pretty easy too to clean them. Maybe pop the buddies off and look at them. Too much grease is not good. It holds heat in. Plus it may start to blow the seal out the back and get grease all over your brakes. Did you can them yet? Check out the back of the drum and the tire.

Re: Grease Everywhere
Thanks bfun, I hope to God the seals aren't shot. I just paid a lot to get the trailer updated!Bfun220 wrote: Thu May 02, 2019 8:15 pm I'm no expert, but I'd say someone over filled and blew the seals out.

Re: Grease Everywhere
Hi BBP! I haven't climbed under the trailer yet to see what I see. I hope it's something simple like you mentioned with the bearing buddies. Spent too much on servicing the trailer to see this when I got home!Big Block Power wrote: Thu May 02, 2019 8:24 pm Yea now looking at that they overfill Ed them badly. Re: Grease Everywhere
Yea when you texted me I didn't think it was that bad. Supprised they did that. I wonder if they had a younger guy in the shop do it? Greasing bearings doesn't mean more grease is better.samuri33 wrote: Thu May 02, 2019 8:41 pmHi BBP! I haven't climbed under the trailer yet to see what I see. Re: Grease Everywhere
Could be remnants from a inexperienced tech that didn’t clean the residual grease outside. No grease is leaking from the cap to the hub . If like BB mentioned nothing spraying centrificly out on the rear tire or backing plate. Then just clean them and keep an eye on them.Big Block Power wrote: Thu May 02, 2019 9:00 pmYea when you texted me I didn't think it was that bad. Supprised they did that.
