Just got the call and she is ready to be picked up. They had the started in stock and got it installed. Very pleased with the service and the price. Not sure if it is marketing or what .. but was told the flat sheet said to charge 4 hours to install, it only took them 1 hour so they just billed me the 1 hour of labor. I am thrilled with that. Stay tuned for first day of 2019 attempt 3.

Good deal. But sure how they have a flat rate on a boat. Every engine compartment is so diff. Mines right out in the open. Yes 1 hr very fair for 2 bolts and 3 nuts maybe. Glad they took care of you. Keep the good ones. Now get that thing wet and enjoy it. I have to water my driveway to get mine wet.

So.....maybe boating just isn’t for me. We put her in the water this weekend for the first time and took on water, a LOT of water. Sitting on the back, in a bay....my little one says “I smell gas”. Engine off, just been floating for an hour. I smell and I smell it too. I tried to raise the hatch and it was struggling. I got it to raise and went back to look...had water up to the top of my batteries, half the engine was under. I yanked up the anchor, left the hatch cracked and she started up. We were directly across the lake from where I put in and had a friend with a Tritoon with us. I quickly offloaded the wife and youngest and set them on their way with my truck keys. I had so much water that she struggled to go.... I managed to get back to the waiting trailer and get loaded up. No clue what happened or how much damage has been done. Engine oil looks fresh. Power steering looks BAD. Hydraulic should also be bad. I have a video of the water coming in and I couldn’t pour it in faster with a water hose.

Sorry to hear that juddy. Sounds like your raw water pump is sucking the lake water up from the lake and dumping it into the engine compartment. Blown hose? I thought you had this looked at last May?

Clean the engine hatch switch on the dash by disassembling it and using CRC to clean the goop in it. That’s what cured my engine hatch blues.

Remember this series Cobalt is 15-20 years old. If no one did prior maintenance before you purchased her, it can create the perfect storm. Hopefully you can work through these.

At least your new tow rig should be low maintenance.

Oh man... That's pretty scary stuff, Judd. Glad you were able to get it out before it got even worse. We all have our days and weeks that are bad.. You'll get it sorted out. Better get that little one of yours an ice cream or something - he or she earned it!

To revive this and add to it. No new changes to the boat over the winter. She has just been taken to be summarized, oil change and detailed.

That’s bad news, but at least everyone is home safe. Sitting in the water leaks, and only when running leaks are different issues.

Sometimes we need to look at services that where recently performed. Sure new items can pop up but if you had minimal water in the bilge last season this is my first place to see what was done. ( Hoses can appear secured but may have been missed).

Judd that sucks man. Let's see the vid of where it is coming in. Like Matt said is it only when it's running. Or sitting. Could be a inlet hose or bellows. Glad your kids said something and you were close to the ramp.

I had a new starter installed last week. I do need to try and determine if it was related to this. I figure the hydraulic pump may have to be changed out and fluid, Power steering fluid and probably that new starter as they were all under water.

Holy poop, that would be scary. Glad you got everyone off the water. Do you have a bilge pump ? Or was the water coming in too fast ?

The only way to upload a video with this software JM is to use YouTube.
Create a YouTube account. Upload the vid to that YouTube account. Then insert into this thread.

Hopefully we can help diagnose when we see that.

In reference to the bilge question: I do have one and it usually works. As I sat on the back swim platform and it was filling up with water the bilge was not pumping. As I got underway to head to the dock, it started pumping and pumped the whole time. Water is coming in equal to going out or just a tad slower.

I don't know exactly what engine and set up you have. They cracked a pipe or left a hose off. The starter is right there.
