New to Cobalt

Have owned Four Winn’s and 2 Bryant’s over my 3+ decades boating. Looking to get back into a 21 ft bow riders to be used on an Illinois River and lake system mostly. Looking at the 200 and 220 with V6 SX drives. What can you tell me about the Cobalt.
2-4 folks max no water sports. Thanks all

Want something simple but quality for me and my wife. We live on the Fox River/ChainOLakes system will be boating during the week to miss the weekend invasion/freak show and occasionally visiting Greenlake Wisconsin.

Have had a couple 220's and love the model, great ride, sports car handling and plenty of room for that amount of people. If you're set on v6 I would test drive the VP 240 and 280hp and see what fits your needs the most. Also, would strongly suggest the duoprop.

I'm assuming a used older model? What years. What prices. I personally wouldn't want anything smaller than a 8.1/496 but the 5.0 would be the smallest I would ever go in either of those boats. A douprop would be much better with less power. As some on here think the small v6 are more then enough. Hope that helps. I'll see you on big green. Let us know when your up here on Illinois Ave!

Had family reunions in the Oakwood lodge from the late 60s until Bob Snyder lost it in the Great Recession. I always stayed at the Bay View because of the docks. The down town has almost shut down. Still got the goose blind and the little corporal.
Even the Heidel House has gone condo. Just had friends buy some where in your neighborhood.
Gonna look at a few this week, one with a duoprop. Do they run closed cooling systems and cat converters now? Appears so from website.

Yea we got married at the Heidel House. Stayed at the same hotel nice docks. After 2010 I believe is the cut off for cats.

Welcome, what lake are you on? We're up on Channel. Have you looked at Gordy's? They have several variants of the 200 with the V6.

As for Cobalt in general, compared to what you've owned it's going to blow you away. Nothing wrong with the boats you listed, just a whole different class of boat. I would say the only real competitor for Cobalt in construction quality and amenities in the runabout sector is Formula. You will not be disappointed.

most, if not all of them are likely consignment boats, so you have the sellers asking price plus the 20% consignment tax. I'm guessing you could get a much better price if you throw realistic numbers at them.

Thanks for the input. Gordys is just north of us. We’re on the lower Fox in Fox River Grove area. Would one of you explain the details in this drive description. GasEngineVolvo V6-240 sx w/cl Cooling . How have the closed cooling systems held up and do the have cats now and what has that added to the overall equation?

well, you're about as far away from me as you can get on the Chain, lol. Been a tough year for the lower river, hope you're not flooding too bad.

No issues with closed cooling, been around forever, just like a car. The description is just saying it's the 240hp V6 paired to the SX single prop drive. Not sure when cats were mandatory, or when Volvo went to them, there are others with more Volvo expertise here that will chime in.

Oldbro, a lot of dealers (but not all) will discount new Cobalts by up to 20% or so off "sticker" price, so keep that in mind when looking at used boats vs new, or trying to determine how much a used boat has been discounted from its original price.

Cats were mandatory in 2010. Yes G are proud of their prices. Not sure how much they deal on them as I never tried to deal on one with them. Others have and purchased. Their reputation is number 1 so that goes a long ways. If we have a budget and a year you want we will sirens your money. Not wisely though
