Replacement Strap for Engine compartment lid
Replacement Strap for Engine compartment lid
Does anyone know where I can find a strap to replace the one I use to help lift my engine compartment lid on my 226? Mine is about to break, as it is a 1999 strap.

I want to get three of these as well for my bow cushions. You can't open them with the BFC installed. Just have to find the right color to match it.

I'm sure it will. I just ordered two colors of the hidem. should be here mid week. I can let you knew how it matches and I may have some left over. I want some for my three bow cushions.

I gut the straps on today. The bone color matched really good. I think it's only 3/4 inch wide though. You might want to find some wider? Not sure how hard your cover opens but it may work for you. If you offer 1 foot it's only going to cost you $5 so not much to lose.

Thanks, Big Block Power. My engine compartment takes a good 2 second tug, I would need a 1.5 inch or greater strap. Maybe 2 3/4 inch straps?

To funny. You can get stronger lift struts. I was thinking of doing that to my lid also. The wife can't lift it up easy either. Man I had to reword that or it wasn't going to sound good.lol

Update: I ended up using seat belt webbing:

Just cut off the same length as the original pull strap, doubled it over and screwed it in with the same screws as the original...works great. Will post pics when I get back to the lake.
