Replacement stereo head unit?

Post by Nealcj8 »

My sony head unit has died, the volume knob quit working so my volume on my remotes quit working to. What is a good replacement head unit that will work with my remotes or has anybody replaced the remotes with something else that fit where the old ones were?

which Sony remote do you have?
I replaced my head unit with the Sony DSX-M55BT and the remotes work just fine, only nothing shows up on the remote screen anymore. All functions work otherwise.
If you're running your stereo and speakers through an amp then this head unit would work just fine for you. If you are running everything through the head unit, you might consider the next model or 2 up providing more power.

I am going to be installing an MEX-M72BT here in the next few weeks. I have the factory Sony remotes and a JVC head unit and want to get remotes functionality back. Not a huge Sony fan but didn't want spend a ton and run all new cables for Fusion remotes and a new Fusion receiver. The Sony is on sale at Crutchfield right now.

Neal,

I have the older Sony model (M50BT) and the remotes work well with it. We should have the same remotes (my 220 is a 2004).

I have the older remotes. The volume knob is the only thing not working on my head unit.
