I just bought an R7!- had no idea glass cockpit was so disappointing. Checking with parts guy at dealership - he said Cobalt did not want to supply parts for fuel computer because it fouled other stuff up.
My gas gauge just reading a percentage makes it almost impossible to compute range. Cobalt is riding on its reputation and not on true leadership- my GPS is also not as accurate as my previous Garmin I hung myself on previous Cobalt. This is not quality boat building. This is “price boat stuff” shame on you Cobalt!

Welcome to the forum. Any pictures of your boat? I have to say I'm pretty happy with my 2019 R3, including the glass cockpit. It doesn't have sensors for many of the available features but I think it has more than enough to allow informed operation of the boat an dis certainly a step up from the analogue guages on my last Cobalt.

Hey SeaV. Welcome to the Cobalt chat forum. So glad you found us!

I’m sorry to hear about your glass cockpit woes. I’ve read other threads with users having issues at times with their glass setup. (Reboot issues, time lag, errors, etc.). It sounds as if yours isn’t a malfunction but instead a display format issue?

Hopefully Cobalt will be able to resolve your challenges to your satisfaction.

In any event, we would love to see some pics.

Again welcome aboard mate!

Anyone know how to add the time to the display but in non military format (i.e 6:00PM rather than 18:00)?

Yes, trying to remember. This bugged me for awhile.
It is under system settings.
I believe if you hit home, then where the home button was it says settings, this should be main system settings, somewhere in those was the answer. I will try to update this post with more specific info when I get to the boat.

So I think several people that have posted on the forum about the glass cockpit issues missed some reading in the massive amount of paperwork you got when you picked up the boat! So here is a picture of the quick reference side Wich talks about how to keep the screens on when you stop the engine and that the Volvo trip computer is available after market add on.

I was disappointed too when I saw this stuff missing, then I read my info packet one rainy day and found that it is an aftermarket add on, I think Cobalt should add this as an option but I bet not many people would pay for it. I could see it being necessary for ocean boats but probably not worth the cost when on a lake.
Also, you can upgrade the firmware with a micro SD card that will vastly improve startup speed of the units. I just did this and it was amazing improvement. There is a great thread on this forum about it.

I just got off the phone with Garmin Support (really helpful) on a different matter (adding a chart for Canadian lakes). You can use the Gramin "Active Captain" app on your iPhone (or Andriod, I assume) to connect with the 7607 and update it.

Steps as follows:

1. Download the Active Captain app to your smart phone;
2. With the 7607 on, create a wifi password (under communications);
3. Go back to your smartphone and join the Garmin's wifi network. The app will read your devices (including the transducer) and register them for you (when you go back to a internet connection) and then check for updates. Yesterday I was prompted to download the most current update: 2019.0613.0
4. Disconnect from the Garmin wifi network and connect to another internet connected wifi network and download the updates for your devices;
5. Connect to your Garmin wifi network again and upload the new software to the Garmin units.

I asked Garmin support whether I need to download a new chart to an SD card or I can use the "Active Captain" app and they advised I can use the app, I just need to amke sure I have the correct specification 32gb SD card in teh slot, formatted FAT32.

Still no other posts. Wondering if this is someone just wanting to trash Cobalt.

Some of you have posted pics of you glass dash. I'm away another month and can't really do something now.
Our center gauge shows water temp. I'm not that interested in water temp. I'd like to move the depth gauge to the top center.

Just touch and hold down on the gauge you want to move and replace. They are super easy to edit or move around.
