I'm going to make an offer on the Vegas lift. They are asking $4000....trying to decide what is fair. The guy told me originally that I would have to pay someone at the marina to pull the lift out of the slip and ferry it over to the ramp, probably cost $100 or so. He also said the slip owner sold his boat and is paying $600/month for the slip as long as the lift is in there, so I think he's probably motivated to get rid of it. I'm thinking about offering $3000 and asking the seller to pay for the haul over to the ramp so it's already there when I get there. Then I just have to drag it out of the water and take it apart. Do you guys think that's fair or am I asking too much? It's going to cost me $150 or so in gas plus about a 10-11 hour round trip to go get it. Then I still have to cut it down to size and pay my marina $350 to install it, they don't allow DIY unfortunately.

I was thinking that I would drag my empty boat trailer out there to use to pull the lift from the water. Once I take it apart I think I should be able to strap the pontoons and long frame pieces to the boat trailer to haul it back home. Thoughts?

Price point is good as long as you’re installer is confident that version can be narrowed to fit. The trailer will allow over hang as I’ve used boat trailers unorthodox like that. The bunks below your side fenders becomes a resting spot for the fenders.
I’m sure you’ve got it mapped out in your mechanical brain so we need not worry right?

Remember they need air to float so you’ll be disassembling it once floated on your trailer and pulled.

No I would offer 5k to make sure you get it and he doesn't seem it will your driving there. That way if you stick another 3k into it your at the perfect mark to ask us if you should have bought a new one..

Called and offered $3k this afternoon. Decided not to push on them covering moving it to the ramp. Broker didn't sound happy, but said he'd present it. Also have a call in to the marina to see what it's going to take to move the lift to the ramp.

Found a 10,000# hydrohoist (old, fiberglass floats) for a reasonable price. Have to replace
a couple of straps, and get it moved. It's already rigged for back-in (longer swing arms).
Hoping to have it installed this week. Used can save you some money... I hope....
10,000# should be over-kill for my 5250# dry-weight 272.

Think about replacing the hoses when you get time. Will cost a little money, but better than finding your boat in the drink. My neighbor at our dock bought a used lift and struggled with it as it was an older lift. Constant leaks where the hoses attached to the tanks, Mine was used also, and I've never had any problems, but seeing how yours has the fiberglass tanks it is likely more than just a few years old. Cheap insurance for a couple hundred dollars.

New hoses were installed as part of the deal. Thanks for the tip.

Well the owner said yes to the $3k offer, but now the marina is telling me that it may cost up to $600 to remove the lift, but they have to go look at it first, but they may not be able to get back to me til next Wednesday. So I'm in limbo since I'm not willing to put down any $$ when I don't know for sure what I'm getting into. So we'll see...but I know I'm not paying $600 for them to remove a lift and float it to the boat ramp.

If it was local I'd do it. But taking a full day in the car, $150 or so in gas, the hassle of having to disassemble in a parking lot etc, all for a lift that is designed for a 16' slip and has been widened to 18', that I would have to further modify to get into my 12' slip...the value proposition drops off quickly. I started with $3100 in mind ($3000 for the lift and $100 for moving to the ramp), and that's where I'm sticking on this deal. Otherwise I'll hang out and wait for something else.
