Another member from Greers Ferry Lake, AR

Post by rshort3363 »

Hey all,
I grew up on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, AR. For the last few years, we've been renting pontoons at Greers Ferry. The wife and kids demanded a boat this year and I wanted something we could have fun on. I'm not one to do anything half-effort. I've always wanted a Cobalt so we took the plunge in late July.

I've spent the last 2 months lurking and learning and I'm really appreciative of all of the knowledge on this board. I finally took some pictures that I'll post shortly.

Very cool. Let's get some surfing pictures going. Sure was a great year for new boats including the surf model. Do you trailer it?

Welcome Rshort from Greers Ferry Lake.
Not sure from your pics where you hang out.
We're usually close to Diamond Bluff and have a slip at Shiloh.
Love to see your boat up close and personal.

Thanks all. It's a pleasure to be here. I'm really enjoying the community.

No trailer. I was afraid we wouldn't use it enough if we had to take the time to launch it. Instead we rented a slip and had a lift installed.

Krob - We are at Damsite but we've been hanging out in the area around Big Dike Rd (does that have a name?). I was going to ask you - is there like a local's map of the area? As I mentioned, I grew up on Hamilton so I don't any idea where anything is on Greers. If I can't find it on Google Maps, I probably can't find it.

We're at Shiloah Marina, which is closer to center of lake where the big surface areas are located. Shiloah is owned by same people who own Damsite Marina. We usually boat in that area, or go further west through the Narrows. Sugar Loaf is interesting. Look west for the highest ridge on the lake: that's Diamond Bluff: we're just north of there. Scroll out on your Garmin and you'll see lots of things. Right now, with lake down, I'd suggest to check your map contour lines and stay inside the 50' areas if possible, and 30' if not. The further you get from Heber Springs, the bigger the lake surface and there's less traffic.
Hope to see you someday.
