Honestly I would keep it all JL free air 4 ohm. Watch black Friday specials on creative audio site.

Jeff can answer on the sub. That's his brand. The amp is good. I think the same power im pushing mine. I have mine way turned back due to marriage reasons.
Wait for black Friday. You will get a new one for that price I bet.

Awesome some good advice, thanks! Here's what my guy at Creative Audio just sent me regarding the sub:

"JL offers a woofer that is designed for a set amount of air or the IB " free air" . If we know the air space it is going into we may be able to use the enclosure specific woofer to mount in your cut out."

I was planning to put it under the passenger console (cut a hole and push the back of it into that storage area). But with the access panel there, does that effect the "fee air" that is needed? I think I need 2 cu ft to use a free air sub.

Anyone ever think of putting a sub in the center of that bench seat across the back of their 220? I am wondering if that's just too much of a pain in terms of running cable/wire.

Actually Jeff and I discussed that spot on mine in the rear. I really think it would be a great spot. Just buy a few spare subs. Down side. That's the entry and exit spot of the boat. It's going to get wet all the time. It's going to get kicked all the time. So it turned to a no for me. I just moved my panel out some in the storage space. It's about 6 inches deep and 30x30ish? But not sealed at the top or sides You could if you want too.

So in terms of measurements etc, that spot would work if I wanted it too?

I am really thinking about that spot. Seems like music-wise, it would be about the most balanced place to put it. I think it would take a little doing in terms of moving wires etc. Longvruns for RCA's too.... not sure if that's a problem or not

Na is easy to run the wires from there. I actually like the spot just not a practical spot. I really wish the bow wasn't curved because that's where I would have mounted it. That Way it's firing at you not from behind you. Then you have to change the setting so it didn't sound odd 180 degrees if its mounted behind you.

I like the idea of putting it there. But don't like the idea of how many feet are going to hit it or how wet it may get. I'm wondering if there enough depth or would it need a spacer? Wires would be easy to get there.

There's lots of room. What I would also do then is get starboard and enclose that area from the storage under the seat. And make it a box so it goes boom boom boom👍

I guess I should have clarified. Enough room without cutting into either storage. I won't want to cut into the storage.

I looked at mine yesterday again. I don't think there's any risk of cutting into storage. But I can see losing something that bounced or rolled back there, and it being a bear to retrieve. Like BBP said, might have to out some starboard in there.

For our application, it might work out pretty good to put it there. Our kid is a senior this year and there's not a ton of swimming that takes place off of our boat (at least not like I imagine it being with younger kids and their friends).

I'm also not convinced it would get super wet there. Everything is sealed up tight. There's a drain hole on the top area that goes into the bilge area. The woofer can get wet from spray or rain (if it's a marine woofer) with no I'll effects. Now, I CAN see it being kicked by almost everyone who sits in that spot though lol.

Pondering this for sure.

Soooo..... I took some Xmas money and bought a different amp (Found out the Profile amp I had driving my sub was actually a pretty crappy sub).

All I can say is that old sub i have in there now (wired in parallel) with the new Mono Kicker amp i just installed, is flat out awesome! I'll clean up the box with matching carpet, tidy up the wiring, fine tune it, and be done with my boat's sound system once and for all. Super, super pleased with how it turned out.
