only time I use my depth finder is to make sure I am in less than 50ft of water so my anchor will grab
I was just typing up the same response. I use ours all the time, but its to find a cove shallow enough to anchor up in. Ours, like yours, spends a lot of time close to triple digits. We only have 75ft of anchor line and I usually skip arm day in the Gym so I dont like pulling up more than 40ft or so.
I only use a 14lb anchor so anything over 50ft and my 6k lb boat will just yank my anchor right out of position with any gust of wind or wake. So if I want any chance at all of holding in one spot I gotta find less than 50ft. More like 30-40 to be safe.

Summer pool the lake is 25ft at my slip.
We caught a good deal on a box anchor on amazon. Haven't gotten a chance to use it yet. Hoping it holds better than what we have been using in the past. It is certainly lighter and will be easier to pull up. Will have to let you know.

First time pulling into slip on table rock I saw what I thought was 6 feet so I started to trim up not knowing how much shallower it was going to get. Then I took a better look and it said 60 feet. No way my alarms going off with it set at 3 feet. Lol

My first time there I confused the water temp gauge with the depth. I was like "man, this water is 160 degrees!"

You're going to like that box anchor. You can throw out that old 7 to 1 rode ratio with one of those. It's more like 2 or 2.5:1. It holds every time.

A tidal river I boat in can get as low as a foot in some areas, but its all sand and mud. So if we are coming back and its low tide we take it slow in those areas and trim up. yes, sometimes we hit bottom, theres no escape. But it doesnt do any damage. some paint will start to wear off the outdrive if there is sand there and a lot of people say "oh you clean your props going through there" haha.
I would try as mush as possible to pass through the low spots away from low tide. but if its just sand and mud, no rocks, then I would go for it. You will most likely have to replace the impeller more often, and maybe even the housing. if enough sand does accumulate in the block it will cause the engine temp to go up. if that happens we will pull the block plugs while underway and flushes most of it out.

Myself I boat in 3feet am the time and no Major issues yet. But hearing your prop hit rocks is no fun. You would have to stay on plane to even think of making it through with crossed fingers and holding your breath. 2 feet of water and going 25 mph yecks. Not sure I would even gamble that one. We have a member that likes to beach his boat down there and take pictures of it sitting on its side. I wouldn't want to be that guy.

Yea I wanted to do a trip there again this last year. Hopefully this year. We did it a few years ago. Great water and places to see. Green lake is very nice.

Honestly, I agree with the guys and gal. 2’ is not enough. No chance I would stroll through 2’ with my boat.
IMO, I would stay away from a stern drive and maybe consider the 25SC.
Was hoping to sea trial the R7 and drive to our inlet this week but dealer doesn’t have R7 or 5 right now.....I did notice the 30sc at the dealership with twin 300hp outboards, beautiful boat but it still has a 26in draft and again the outboards would not be our first choice..but I think we would consider if R7 doesn’t work...will keep you updated when we sea trial.

All the Cobalt Exec’s were on a 30SC last year at the cobalt regatta here and I got to walk around on it. I liked the boat a lot. Still had a bit of a swim platform but nothing like an IO. But because of the outboards it had tons of storage.
