Another Classic Cobalt build

Well we couldn't pass this one up and let it go to the crusher. 1985 19BR in great shape for the year and a fresh water boat. my buddy Chris saw the post for it a while back but couldnt get to it in time and we weren't sure what happened to it. Come to find out a guy at east coast flight craft acquired it and was going to fix it and run it. Well, he lost interest and came to me to see if i wanted to buy it. So i asked Chris and he jumped right on it.

It is very much original, except the seats were replaced at some point. original OMC engine and drive not even 200 hours on it. original owners had it up until this year! We are planning on doing a full mercruiser alpha conversion like we did on my 19CD and hopefully we will document it more to show everyone all the steps and work that goes into this process.

plan right now is to make sure engine runs well, pull it out, and wrap the boat for the winter. Stay tuned.

Sooooo can we sell or re-bunk the trailer?? it make me nervous. lol

its terrifying! i think it was a yard trailer that they sold to the guy just to move it around. Its tiny. A tandem axle trailer will go under it soon

My neighbor just got the same year/model, but in much worse condition, with a blown 4.3 merc. He's planning a resto as well, I'll have to snap some pics in the spring when he unwraps it.

well the motor fired right up and runs incredibly smooth! pulled it out and put in the garage for the winter. boat is wrapped and stored. now to wait for winter to be over since we dont have a shop to work on it

maybe start working on converting the engine over to mercruiser.

Wow, this is great! But that last picture is disorienting to me. I know the motor is hanging, but with that backdrop it looks like its sitting on the floor, like maybe you turned the boat on its side to tumble the motor out!

Cool! Looks a lot like my slightly newer DV18 (late 86).. I’m slightly jealous of your interior.. mine is starting to rip here and there and the plywood under the cushions is quickly deteriorating.. a project to tackle at some point! Anyway, I’ll have to check in with you all as the spring & summer come around
