I hope you are right. The public has a short attention span, but if things get as bad as some are forecasting we are all going to be dealing /w potentially losing someone we love to this virus. As more people are infected I think you will see the public continue to panic, but that's just my doom and gloom prediction of the next few months, we can go /w your outlook its much happier.

And when a vaccine is found, as long as it's not priced to the moon everyone will get it and it'll be over. Then the dust will settle from the markets and we'll all be talking about how crazy it was around the back of the boats this summer!
We are at least 12 months, maybe even 16 or 18 months away from a vax for this. Trials are being fast tracked, think Phase 1 trials happened last week, but the process is still a long one. Need to make sure the vax creates a good immune system response in people without any nasty side effects. I'm guessing its wash your hands until 2021 at least. Hope there is some seasonality to this like the Flu where warmer temps and higher humididty will limit spread.

Yeah, this is crazy. We currently run 2 shifts with about 25 employees each. We are going to move to a 24/7 schedule to limit the number of people in the lab at any one time.

Since I am retired and 72, I’m hunkered down at home. We are only going out for food, etc. I’m looking at this as a great time to catch up on home projects and repairs. I thought all of this was overkill at first but now, like Jeff, I think there are going to be more deaths from this than we think.
My goal for this year is to not be one of them. Everybody needs to do what’s best for them but to you all, be safe.

For the first time in my life, I am feeling vulnerable to something like this based on the research about the virus and my existing underlying health issues and the age and medical condition of several relatives who 75 or older. My last count is about 8 aunts/uncles and great-aunt/uncles, mother and a 98 year old grandmother. They are a strong bunch, but age is catching up with several of them and most have their share of health issues.

We close on our lake condo next week and I'm seriously considering packing up and heading over there for several days/weeks as long as my job allows. For right now, the office is closed and were are required to work from home. I should be able to do that from the condo and it is 100 miles from the DFW area and as isolated as I can get. Plus, the view is better.

Went to check on mail after I posted my comment above and found this from a neighbor.

I had no idea I had Charmin rich people living so close to me. How fun is that?

We kept busy today doing a little yard cleanup....yesterday we did some random closet clean up. Our house will be spotless by the end of this. It was good to get outside today.

In some ways, I would like some self quarantine. It’s safe for controlling your health risk.
It seems the message hasn’t reached some in western NY that there is a health issue afoot and standing next to one another isn’t recommended..
Being packed to the gills Friday and Saturday, and even though we had adequate separation for employees set up, I could see it in our cashiers eyes, and our employees eyes that they were terrified. My wife and son also, me included.
We all know if one goes down with Covid-19, we all go down. They know there is no co-mingling with anyone after work except for immediate family at home, again if one goes down. It’s work, and home period, or no job. Sucks, but we are kind of on the front lines.
So as of tomorrow, we have decided to close our store to the general public and separate ourselves for the sake of our employees and our customers health. Everything will be phone in..we shop..they pick up at our door.
Wish us luck!

Hang in there T. I applaud your creative efforts.

Society will adapt and overcome ...but it will take time. It will certainly make us stronger as we take care of each other and become creative to fight this unseen enemy. The damage will be costly but taking care of your people is the right thing to do.

Now hunker down, stay safe, and stay strong. 💪🏻

I’ll cya on the lake before you know it. 8-)

I commend you for your action as well as keeping top notch food available to the good people in your community. My one question, and I wonder about his with all online grocery options, is how do you make your entire inventory available to people. For example, in the grocery store, i buy a ton of stuff as I browse. I would never think of half the items. For example, do you have deep list of the items available from different sections of your store? or do you just let have a small subset of items that wont sell due to them not being core items that people buy. Pulling for you and all local business.

Mr T--

Thank you (and all businesses) who are going the extra mile to try and accommodate the general public's needs. You are in a unique situation that as you said, puts you on the front lines, whether you want to be there or not. It sounds like you are doing all that is prudent to keep safety at a high priority. One other thing to consider (from the Mrs who is an RN)....there are now some reports of testing that says Covid may live on surfaces much longer than originally expected and in fact, may be as prominent in the transmission as coughing and sneezing. Simply put, some one coughs, the droplets land on the surface and then you touch the surface hours later... Please do not take me at 100% on this, I am simply passing on some thoughts from the medical field as it is related to those staff. All of us would do well to keep our hands to our selves in public and certainly don't touch your face. If you can find it, give those counters an extra wipe or two with whatever you can---even soap and water should help.

Everyone be safe.

I didn't think of dealership would close. Got the word today as our state just got the stay at home order starting tomorrow at 6pm. 1500 people off for 30 days min we were told.
Going to be hard for some.
We will see Tommorow who and what dealership will have people there for the first responders.

Sailor yes I heard the same thing about the droplets.

I'm kind of glad I will be off I think as of now. Just so I don't have to deal with anyone.
