Closing on CS22 today
Re: Closing on CS22 today
Will do on the transom lighting. I am looking into the boat plug lights as well. I just need to get my hands on the boat to see what may be available to tap into. I have the rgb interior lights. I need to determine if I want to sync with those (if possible) or just get a solid color. These are the fun type of conundrums!
On the doghnut front, what is the black boat club consensus on cake vs. yeast. Filled or not?
I'm mostly a yeast purist myself. But if I'm late to the party I will scavenge anything that isn't nailed down.

Yep. Sorry I realize it looks like I am disparaging Mercruiser, but that was not my intent. My nervousness at the outset was due to the financial aspect and commitment that entails. I lucked out in that my wife has been more "on board" with the boat purchase. I think the Merc will be a fine powerplant and at just 300 hp for 6.2l, it doesn't seem that the engine will be stressed at all. I grew up with mostly Merc outboards and we received a lot of great service from them. I have also experienced the downside of Volvo's trim pump solution on their DP drive. It would have been a cheaper fix on the Merc.Big Block Power wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2020 6:51 pmReally you bought a merc no need for a back up planXLI wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2020 11:09 amI forgot to ask. Now that I am on the black boat team are there any special requirements? As the new guy do I have to bring doughnuts to the meeting?Big Block Power wrote: Fri Mar 06, 2020 2:06 pm very sharp. Merc 6.2 my bad good choice!!
Sheriff does he need to bring doughnuts? I say yes!
My yellow paddle sig line was a dig at my ability to get into trouble. We did a lot of boating last year and never ran across a single boater in trouble. That's a lot different than when my family started boating in the early 70's. I know there must be a lot of Mercs out there providing many trouble free hours!

Re: Closing on CS22 today
Hey Guys,
Not yet but thanks for asking. It's still sitting on my dealer's lot. Our weather here has been rainy and we need to schedule lake time together to check everything out and take delivery. They offered to order my "domed" cobalt font registration numbers and they arent in yet anyway. It's been a while so I hope the supplier is still producing. In addition my dealer isn't open on the weekends during thsee interesting times so I need to schedule some time off and I might as well wait until the weather is consistently better.
I did manage some alone time with her this weekend! I put my plate on the trailer and installed a pair of boat buckle transom straps on the trailer as well. I meant to take a picture and post on the trailering forum but in my excitement to get out there I forgot my phone. Typical. They look good if I do say so myself. All the mounting brackets and so forth are black as are the straps. They go well with the black trailer.

Wow my first post was March 6th. Finally took posession of the boat today including shake down run with my dealer.
Below is when we rolled up to the ramp to see the boat near an actual lake!
One happy driver (in less than optimal boating weather). First time meeting it's travel buddy Aaaand a perspective you don't see every day just to throw in something different.

How did she perform? Did the guy from the dealer look as scared as the guy that had to take me on my test drive?

I thought it tracked better than my prior 200s and somehow maneuvered better at slow speeds too. More nimble. The cockpit seemed much more spacious as well. We didnt push it hard as we were putting the very first minutes let alone hours on the engine but it planed easily. There is some engine vibration at idle but once past 1100 rpm it smooths out. I'm not sure if break in will help with this but it does rattle the tower hardware a bit.
I did give the dealer a scare. Neither of us could find the depth finder in the scroll through menu. I was very bummed. We both thought it didn't have one which would have been a problem since it was listed with that option. He called me after I dropped him off while I was still on the lake. It turns out it was there but had not been activated at the factory. This is the first time he has seen this. If you have the analog gages with the LCD insert with the small dual displays and the two small buttons, you can access the gauge functions by pressing both buttons at the same time. This allows for speedo and trim calibration among other things and allows you to choose your information display options. I found the depth gauge and all was well. I must say I didn't like driving around an unfamiliar lake with a brand new boat for an hour or more without it! All in all my wife and I love the boat and look forward to boating without a couple three layers of clothes!
