Thought I may have had an easy fix but to no avail.

Drive lube reservoir was low so I topped it off with some Merc hi performance 90w gear lube.

Launched; test drive ; and man she runs amazing for 20 minutes. Actually showed 62 mph on the speedometer with just me in the boat. This thing is a real hot rod and sounds amazing with through hull exhaust-- again for 20 minutes.

Then back to limp mode as alarm sounded.
Thermostat showed 180° ☹️

Gauges are a only guide.. unfortunately not as accurate sometimes as we would like to think. Its possibly the temp threshold is being achieved. (as it is borderline )

Engine temp slightly high means its possible one of the exhaust sensors is being triggered as-well.. Have you ran with all exhaust through y pip ? no CC?

You'll know with a scan after that ignition cycle, the code will still remain stored..sensors, ect and others also lose threshold range over time and can be wacky in range (low) or (high)

Easy deal pal once shes is scanned!!

62mph... Very nice !!

Imagine my surprise when I pull up to the boat ramp today and see this trailer!

I was going to go search out this particular 263 on the water, however, that got cancelled when engine "limp" mode kicked in.
Ughh

.
What is on front of that trailer? What is that used for?
I'm guessing a four wheeler goes here for moving the boat around.

My thoughts exactly.
It just goes to show what a hull design can effect. Maybe I can put mine inside of yours?

My dealer today was surprised my boat isn't hitting mid 60's they have a guy on the lake with a 226 bb hitting low 70's he was on it.lol

Hoping this week my marine tech can successfully diagnose the cause of the MagHO alarm. She is such a beast when she's not whining (the engine--not the tech. 😜)

Preliminary reports show that the gaskets on each side of the engine heat exchanger had deteriorated. There were many pieces blocking the small holes which allow water to flow freely thru this piece.

.
The exchanger was flushed and new gaskets were installed on each side. Unfortunately the weather became too rough to take her out today for a test. Hoping for the best on Thursday as she gets a work out.

Btw, below is an extreme example of a boater's 496 heat exchanger which had a similar issue.

Nice find! Makes total sense as your probably 5 degrees away from perfect and it doesn't take much to restrict flow.

Rough water??? What?? I forget you boat on the Lake/Ocean..

Seems like I read something about a longer boat with the same beam would run faster? Maybe this was canoes but it was naval design article. Didn't make sense to me but, then again, I'm not a naval architect. Anyone heard of this?

Aslan, hope you find a simple answer to your problem. Every time something happens, I think the worst but it's usually something simple. Good luck.

That's crazy that gasket would do that.
