New 226 Owner Here!

Post by Brewby »

Just picked up my first Cobalt. I've been searching for one for a few years and finally found one that fits all the requirements. It's a 2000 226 that I picked up from a great lady that lost her husband last year. He took very good care of her and it shows. Haven't had a chance to take it out yet to see how she runs but I am sure I will not be disappointed. Looking forward to learning from you guys/gals and I am it looks like this forum is a good source of information for a newby like me.

Cheers!

Hey brewby. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!

Thanks for the intro with pics. Great boat. Yes she will be zippy with a 454 in her.

You’re going to make some great memories on her during quarantine or after. :D

Welcome aboard mate!

Thanks everyone for the welcome messages. Glad to have found this forum. I was going through the forum and came across a Cobalt rendezvous at Table Rock lake. I just happen to be down there from 25 Jul thru 1 Aug and I plan on bringing the boat. How can I join the festivities that are going on that weekend? Would love to meet some fellow Cobalt owners and shoot the sh**.

That's a beauty! I don't think I have seen one that color before. Looks like she was well taken care of.

No performance report yet. Still haven't had a chance to get to the lake. Wife has me doing many "honey do" items around the house since I'm not working due to this COVID thing. I'll get there soon!

Any performance report? Also just bought a 226 with the 7.4gi. At 1300 elevation with 2 adults on board and 3/4 tank of gas we got 53mph. The tach wasn’t working the previous week. I tinkered with it, and now it seems ok at idle about 5-600rpm. At WOT only shows about 3k at 53mph. Props are stamped 7p, curious to see what Ron’s you get out of another similar 226.

Took it our over the weekend and ran great. With just the wife and I and under 1/2 tank of gas was able to hit 62 mph.
