Can anyone tell me if a trailer thats made for a 232 will also work for a 220, I’m being told it will but wanted to see if anyone else had any insight on this

Hey Bjgp...welcome to the CobaltChat forum. So glad you found us!

The 232 and 220 are the same in beam size (8'6") but differ slightly in length and hull deadrise (and of course weight).
The 232 measures 23'11" w/o swim platform and has a slightly more angled 21 degree deadrise.
The 220 measures 21'4" w/o swim platfrom and has a slightly less angled 20 degree deadrise.

The dry weight difference is almost 1,000 pounds with the 232 coming in at 4,600 pounds.

If you have a trailer with adjustable bunks, then you can certainly make each of those boats fit like a glove using the same trailer. Honestly you would only need to tweak the angle of the main bunks slightly to accommodate the 1 degree shallower 220 hull for a nice flat fit.

Going from the longer 232 to the shorter 220 is a plus since no parts of the hull will "hang" over the back of the trailer bunks (which can cause a hook in the hull).

BBp had owned multiple sizes of the smaller Cobalts and can speak to the differences as well. He will chime in shortly. (Or Bobrae99 will ).

Yea we really need to know what year boats are they and the trailer. The 232 is going to be a ft longer. But the big thing is the bow eye. They are in diff spots. How much adjustment is on the winch stand? Need to measure from the rear of the bunks to the bow stop rollers. And measure from the transom to the bow eye. Also the height of it. The degree you can shim that if its a welded bunk. Might not be that big of a deal though. Chines might be in diff spots. How many bunks is on the trailer. Prob a 6000 lbs trailer im guessing. The 232 is much closer to the 222 or 242 than a 220.
