Hey PT. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!

Very nice pic indeed. Any thoughts on adding a couple of tower speakers down the road?

How is she powered?

Feel free to start an intro thread only if you have the time.

Again welcome aboard mate!

Thanks AsLan! I would like to add some speakers down the road. I think it currently has 8 speakers and a subwoofer, all Kicker. It sounds pretty decent, but can definitely be improved. Need to change out the head unit as it’s probably the stock Sony. Any suggestions?

It’s my first boat and I just picked it up a month and a half ago. Long list of things I want to add or modify but mostly focused on just being a better Captain at the moment 🙂

It’s got the Volvo 5.7 300 HP with 118 hours on it (8 by me).

Thanks for the warm welcome! I’ll go to the n00b page and introduce myself.

Mike--on a side note, what's the 411 on Lake Murray. We have been potentially looking at property there. I'm thinking my R3 would do just fine. Also, how bad is the drawdown when it happens? Does it make the lake pretty much unusable? If so, for how long? Thanks in advance

Sailor- the lake is periodically lowered to help deal with vegetation growth. A few feet. Typically happens after the pleasure boating season is over, fishermen always out. If you buy lakefront property, you have to know whether you have "deep water" or not. That's the factor that determines whether you'll still have access to the lake. I had a friend with a really nice property, boat lift, etc...lake drawdown caught him with his boat on the lift, and no way to get it to the water. I think you can safely boat year round, but unless you're on a CC chasing striped bass, most people put their boats away once it gets chilly.

Thanks Mike---other than the drawdown, it's hard to imagine it getting to cold to boat, especially after living in MN...I'd say right now the water is in the upper 40's, low 50's at best.

We had a great day on the lake tubing and wake surfing and got out for a little sunset cruise.

I would feel bad if I didn't get my garage queen out in May. So went for a first run of the year today. She still runs strong 😂
Our local ramp was packed no open spots so had to go to another one a ways down I never used so a bit cautious. I found a bunch of 3 ft spots way out there and Tuscany you could relate to this. Sorry I Tuscany I didnt get a picture. Next time I will. I was still in misbelief as I watch the depth finder went from 10 to 3 and looked to my right and here are 20 sea gulls sitting on a huge rock pile. This pile is a ways from shore. I have boated this lake for years and don't remember ever seeing it. And the water is high. 😂

We went out for a few hours on Saturday. It was a bit crowded the chop came up so we stayed in the Topock gorge area of the lake, but did do a run through the channel to check it out. The channel allowed mooring for the first time in a couple of months. We anchored at the sand bar and watched the SpaceX launch on our phones.

Update on the water in the bilge issue. We only got a couple of cups of water in the bilge for this outing. I really cranked down the drain plug, so maybe that is where the water was getting in? Back in January, we did find a piece of metal shaving wrapped around the plug. The plug threads are OK, but maybe it damaged the female threads?

Loving seeing everyone on the water, been MIA for a few weeks because it’s been work and straight to the water.

Fought through some sluggishness with a new set of plugs and wires (I’m telling you they shoe horned this big block in; shout-out to Blake at CLM for loaning a clutch socket driver when mine failed) out of the gate and we’re running cool and easy with the new drive shower. Have run through a couple tanks and some early season GSP antics (If the engine is off birds are fair game, apparently) with mostly flying colors.

Threw in a few shots for the boys, speedo is being finicky so I’ll have to get a GPS spot on... but the new wires and plugs put a new edge back on the old girl. Taught a friend the basics of captaining and enjoyed his grin when he hit the captains call. Like Tim the Toolman Taylor...

Iowariverrat, how does that 220 handle the rough water? I've always liked the looks of them, but wondered how they would handle chop.

A little late to the party, these are from Memorial Day weekend. I have never seen Lake Huron this calm for two days in a row! We took a run to the Blue Water Bridge, grabbed some lunch then the kids decided to do some tubing....burrrrrr. My gauge said that the water temp was 63 degrees.[img]
