The 260 series with the arch had the lines... Unmistakable Cobalt. The current R series Arch designs leaves a little more to be desired. The interior size of an R series? Tough to beat.

So I don’t care if I have the best hulk of not but it sounds like I have a good one in the R7. Just curious as to everyone’s thoughts on the A25. I always heard that was one of the better designs.

A25/28 certainly wins as sexiest looking hull IMO but your mileage may vary.

OK. I have a 2014 R5 and love the boat, but I just posted a comment on another thread about how it handles the chop at our lake. Boating in Texas has been a real learning experience. The wind is almost constant here, but especially in West Texas where our lake is. So, most days are windy and the chop ranges from 1 foot to 2 foot without boat traffic. The R5 can handle that pretty well, but throw in a few wakes and it turns into a washing machine. Last weekend was another example of that. We headed out Sunday morning and our friends were behind us in their 250. The 250 is a little bigger, 25' hull length to my 23.5' and weight was close to the same, but he eventually passed by me as I was navigating the chop and I was watching as he was planed out and the boat didn't appear to jumping around like my R5 does. As I saw him go by, I tried to plane out and see if I could move across the chop better, but I couldn't keep it up very long before I needed to back off of it. Can anyone on the forum provide some knowledge on why this "appears" to be the case. I have not ridden on his boat, so I can't say how it felt actually in the boat, but from the outside, he seemed to be handling the chop much better. Is this a hull issue or does that extra 1.5 feet really help that much?

260s are mean through on coming qtr wakes as TRL washing machine proved.
Plus a genuine 60 mph hull with 496 power.
It’s big sister ( 282 ) shares similar dead rise. Oh and room for a spare engine

Do you have trim tabs? I know in my R7 when I start getting into choppy situations if I dig the tabs down by about 20-30% the ride quality improves tremendously.Motex2011 wrote: Thu Jul 02, 2020 9:18 am OK. My R7 is an absolute tank in the chop. On a busy weekend I can easily run into 2-3ft constant waves and I can plow through them going 30-35mph no problem. Anything larger than that lets say surf boat wake or cruiser wake I have to slow a little but never down to where I am not on plane.

I was going to say add trim tabs. Plus where did you have your trim. Your r5 or totally diff hull then that 250. Props even Make a diff in rough water. Weight distribution does also. I don't knew if they are 2 diff deadrise which I'm sure they are. Last year you should have seen bfun run the washing machine on TRL. The 250 and R5 are same beam. The only major difference appears to be length. Weight was definitely in the back due to the rough ride. Sounds like trim tabs will help. Any idea what that add on costs?
As for trimming the drive, it starts to porpoise pretty quickly. I had them on a prior boat and they definitely helped but I was hoping the bigger R5 would handle the chop without them.
