Early 80s OMC Stringer drive. What engine is it paired to?

1978 model, 350 engine. Is this the 800?

I want to put gaskets and seals in all sections of this drive and replace any bad components. But is there a better way, i see that it can get expensive buying each section rebuilt.

No great answer for that. The stringer drive was short lived and had a reputation for being unreliable. Most will tell you to bite the bullet and convert to a better outdrive. I’m one of those people. Sterndrives.com used to make an adapter plate that filled the hole for the stringer and was setup to accept a Merc Alpha or Bravo drive. The job is not for the faint of heart.

I appreciate the advice and will look into it. I plan to keep this boat and definitely want it to be reliable. The wife isn't going to like it.lol!
