Hi
I just picked up a new to us 2006 Cobalt 250 BR with a 496 HO motor. Our family, two boys 5 and 3 and my wife are new to owning a boat and have enjoyed learning the ins and outs of ownership over the last few months.
I’ve been “racing” with a few friends for the last few years on a 32’ C&C sail boat. It’s really just an excuse to get on the water with friends and have a few refreshments afterwards. It was a tuff decision for our family between a sail boat and motor boat, but we decided the best fit for our family was a bow rider. I still get my sailing fix with friends.
Can’t wait to learn everything I can from this forum and enjoy our new boat.

Welcome from California!
Yeah we need a captains report as performance is almost as important as the stereo.

Thanks for pics: beautiful boat.
How about a little more about you, you know, the who, what, where and when.
Is that picture from your back yard?

No this is where we bought the boat from. We live on the Canadian side of the St clair River. Depending on wind direction we either head out into Lake Huron or head down the St Clair River.

So, how does it work if you are on the Canadian side, but want to pull into a marina on the US side?QuickSix wrote: Sun Aug 23, 2020 6:45 pm No this is where we bought the boat from. You can get a Nexus card. It allows you to go between the two countries easier. For boating you can call ahead before you enter the US. Everyone on the boat is required to have a card. Our family currently doesn’t have then but it is on the list of things to do. On the US side there are a lot of good restaurants you can boat to and tie up.kas232ca wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2020 2:08 pmSo, how does it work if you are on the Canadian side, but want to pull into a marina on the US side?QuickSix wrote: Sun Aug 23, 2020 6:45 pm No this is where we bought the boat from. This is only required when you are going on land. The river and lake have both Canadian and US waterways.

Welcome from Oklahoma! And thanks for the enlightenment. The idea of boating back and forth across country boundaries is just so foriegn to me!

Welcome from Texas. I feel your pain since we seceded from the U.S., I have to carry extra paperwork with me when I leave TEXAS. Good luck with all of that paperwork. Great boat.

Agreed. We were at TRL once and ventured south and crossed the line into Arkansas. My daughter's friend, whose parents grew in Arkansas, thought it was the coolest thing to do by boat.Ytmsn wrote: Sun Aug 30, 2020 9:57 pm Welcome from Oklahoma! And thanks for the enlightenment.
