JVC/JL system cuts out

Post by Tuono »

Hoping to get insight on my stereo system. My JVC started to cut out recently. I have JVC head unit, 2 JL amps, 2 subs, 8 speakers, and dry cell battery. I did verify power and ground connections. My last thought is the dry cell could be dead. Today I plan to check it with volt meter. Any thoughts or other ideas? Thanks!

If the battery still starts your boat, I don't think it's the likely culprit. Head units do go bad, as do connections - I'd go beyond just checking that they're tight, and getting each one loose enough to look at and wiggle around a bit (or unplug and plug back in a few times such as in the back of the head unit) to ensure that each connection is clean. If you're measuring more than 12v at the head unit and the connections are all sound, I'd be thinking head unit swap unfortunately.
