Does anyone have any more info on the available e-step add on? I personally love the idea. Sometimes my latch sticks and it becomes difficult to deploy the swim step in Choppy waters

It powers up and powers down. There is also a manual release. However there is no retrofit to anything prior to R6 models

In choppy water you just need to keep pressure on the step, pull the pin and hold it up until the step gets past the lock point. I think the estep is an interesting innovation but I’d want a position indicator at the helm as well as a control button. Once I’m at the stern to use a button, I’m only a couple of feet away from being able to retract it manually.

Then, there is the cost; $5,333! For guys like me who don’t have an unlimited budget, I have to consider other desirable options; electric head and sink, windlass or 1/2 way to the 380 (from 350) or 430 to 380. Can upgrade from a platinum sound system with transom speakers to platinum with two pairs of tower speakers. I think I’d choose one of those options before an e step.

I’ll be curious to see what the take rate is on this option,

Agree 1000%. I have seen a few posts here and a ton on facebook about retrofitting this. Look I know for some people it is a pain to get the step in and out. I am in my upper 30's so I find it a little comical. No way in hell I would spend 5,333 dollars for this. It is literally a 10lb step swing. I will put that 5300 bucks towards other things. I kinda feel the same way about the garmin upgrade on the r6. Never once have I wished my 7607's were bigger.

I agree about the Garmins, but the way the monstrous new dash is laid out, if you don't upgrade, the 7607's make the console look like options are missing, not a look you want on a $180,000 boat.

I have seen the helm without the large Garmins in person of an R6. It doesn't seem as bad in person as it does on the videos. It is another 5k option to upgrade. I feel like all these little cosmetic upgrades are what cobalt is hoping will turn a 120k boat into a 140-150k boat street price.

I don't think anyone will order this boat with a 300HP engine, so with a VP380, folding tower and nothing else (no covers, sound, windlass, etc.), its already a $145,000 boat. With my expected build, it would be quite a bit more:

It will happen more than you think.
You yourself did these new engines have more power than what is needed. So why go big. I can't believe you would even think of a 380 or 430. Get a special order 240 and be done. Ok

I'm happy in a boat that can go 50 - 54 mph. My R3 achieves low 50's with a VP350 and I've read the R5 does the same speed with a VP380. Cobalt says the R6 will be a couple of mph slower than the R5 with the VP380, so around 49 - 50 mph. This would be my last boat for several years so I was thinking for an extra $5,000, why not??

Plus, it would make you happy. To make you really happy, I'd need to add a Captains Call system - something I'd never do. As captain, if I want to get someone's attention I'd prefer to shout.

I don't think anyone will order this boat with a 300HP engine, so with a VP380, folding tower and nothing else (no covers, sound, windlass, etc.), its already a $145,000 boat. With my expected build, it would be quite a bit more:

Wow. Our 15 year old boat with a like new trailer was less than 1/4 of that $182k price tag and has 80% of that list (no Glass Cockpit, Windlass or shade sail) but has added options like tower speakers and CC...with 5 HP less. Maybe we should add an E-Step to bring it up to the 2020 generation technology. ...Not. With how many times we put our ladder up and down for water sports that E step would certainly not work for us.
In any event that leaves $170,874 that goes into the new boat warranty I guess. Of course you have to leave a little room for just a slight amount of unpredictable depreciation (and that's why Boat Dealers don't lease boats like Car Dealers lease cars)

There is no question you can save a lot of money buying a used boat. I'm addicted to the smell of new gel coat though.
