1994 220

We just picked up a nice 1994 220 with a volvo 5.7.
I'm having a hard time figuring out what outdrive I have, and what prop it came with. The outdrive is labeled dp-c1 and I pulled the props to look at them and they are a stainless c4 set. This boat pops up on plane very fast, but seems to over rev before topping out.

I'm fairly new to boats this style, and very new to volvo. And all the research is making my head spin.
It seems the c4 props only go on the dp280 or dp290. Is that correct? I would like to get a bit more top end from the boat, were topping out around 30.

Like you said, it sounds like you got a duoprop outdrive which is under-propped based upon your assessment. What's the serial number of the drive? This info page will help identify which drive you have based upon The Volvo Penta Store data.

Please post a pic of your 220 when you get a chance. Is your engine fuel injected?

shes carburated.
serial number is 3102166622, based on the tag on the top of the drive. dp-c1 1.95
i havnt had a chance to get it cleaned up and looking good yet, so ill have to wait on a picture. but its in pretty good shape for a 1994.

How many rpms are you over revving by?
C5 or c6 is your next options.

good question, i will have to pay closer attention this weekend. Where can i find the recommended RPM for this motor?

is it normal for the dp-c1 to have the c series props?

I'm having a hard time understanding the out drive names and numbers. It seems there were so many options. Is there a chart somewhere that shows the differences between the dp-c1, dp280 or dp290? Or even a chart that shows what might have come on these boats factory?
