Horn access
Horn access
Can anyone tell me how to access the horn on a 232 Cobalt? I know its on the left side under the rail, but I can't find access to it.

Re: Horn access
Remove a speaker. Go through anchor locker maybe reach out from the storage space from behind the bow backrest of the seat or reach up from under a bow cushion. No matter what it will suck. I take it you can't unscrew it from the outside?

Re: Horn access
Is there anything on a boat that doesn’t suck to work on?
Luckily my horn works if the wire on push button switch is in the mood.

Honestly my engine is super easy to work on. Compared to other boats I'll take me engine compartment all day long. But then that's about it. Lolrabiddawg wrote: Sun Sep 13, 2020 5:42 pm Is there anything on a boat that doesn’t suck to work on?

Re: Horn access
Finally got to the horns. I went down the side from the storage compartment. You have to unscrew the board the horns are mounted to from the outside opening and the then drop the horns to be removed from behind the storage compartment. Real pain. I replaced both horns and they still don't work. It must be a relay or bad ground somewhere down the line.
Re: Horn access
Where is the horn relay on a 232 Cobalt? I replaced the horns and they still just make a bumping noise. The switch is clean.

Re: Horn access
My horn doesn’t use a relay. 12 volts is applied directly to the pair of horns through the horn switch at the helm.

Re: Horn access
I had a similar issue with my old car's horn. It took me a while to figure it out. One time, I was fumbling around trying to access it when a friend suggested using a flashlight to look for a small panel or cover. Sure enough, there was a hidden access point tucked away under the rail just like yours. Once I found it, replacing the horn was a breeze. Hope this helps you locate your horn and get it sorted out! Also, if you're ever considering an upgrade, check out the Bosshorn for a louder, more commanding sound.
