Hello All,

After several years renting we finally decided to buy our first boat. We started out thinking we wanted a tritoon then decided to try out a 2001 226 that was for sale near me. One test ride and I new this was the one! We were able to sneak in a little bit of time before having it detailed and putting it away for the season

Looking forward to enjoying family time together on the water

Dang thats a nice looking boat.

I also bought a Cobalt after a test ride. I normally would have passed on the boat, but it was so smooth I looked passed the color and purchased before we got back to shore.

Thanks very much.

We plan on getting a slip, but they are a little hard to get on some lakes in Northern IN/SW Michigan. Mainly cruising/ tube pulling/fishing/sandbar.

Overall it was well maintained. Impeller was replaced this past summer. I am having the exhaust bellows replaced (it is torn), U joint bellows have been inspected and are OK.

It does have the short bimini (never installed-I assume the canvas is no good). Main upgrade would be a taller bimini, maybe new speakers as the stereo head unit is new.

Depth finder does not work all the time so I need to have that addressed.

I also plan on adding a spare trailer tire as we will likely be traveling with it 4 hours north next summer.

I believe the trailer tires are original. Should they be replaced for safety?

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions or ideas on the above, or anything else!

Thanks again.

This post may help with depth finder/sounder troubleshooting. The thread discusses the owner's manual information and troubleshooting including refilling the "puck" with anti freeze fluid.

Good looking boat! I have the bigger brother 😉

If those tires are over 5 years old definitely change them. I have had two tire separate belts. Tread is no indicator. It just starts vibrating. Luckily I never got stuck on the road.

Welcome! Great looking boat.

I would try the short bimini first. I would think it would provide more shade than the taller one earlier and later in the day. I would assume ours is a taller one and early and late in the day most of the shade is over the water.

Welcome aboard fellow 226 owner!! I too suffer the depth finder issue... To be addressed this fall. We love the ride of this hull.
