Have I mentioned how much I love living somewhere it doesn't snow?
.
I seem to recall a snow picture you once posted t5500000 no?
Btw, what’s the weight of your 5th wheel RV?
.
Also what is the time to plane in that 5th wheel?
What pitch hitch do you use?
Any certain 5th wheel lube you recommend?
Can't believe I missed your questions earlier! I'm here to help.
Time to plane is 3.465 seconds. I actually got 3.440 one time and 3.490 the next and averaged them...full transparency here.
I found that a 2.3125 pitch hitch works best, gives a good hole shot while reducing chucking, and still plenty strong in case I want to load the trailer up with steel bars or tow quadruples or similar. I give up some on the top end but that's ok, nobody needs to go 120 while pulling a trailer. 105 is plenty for me.
Fiver lube....not for me. It's sticky and I prefer to run it raw
We took advantage of some end of the year/month pricing and stepped up to this Ram 2500 Big Horn. The ride is way smoother than I expected without a load, and it tows the 252 so much better.

I've been planning the move to a 2500 for several years now, and I went back and forth on whether to get the big Hemi or the Cummins. While I tow way more than most folks, I decided the 6.4 Hemi would give me a better optioned truck. I drove a Tradesman that was exactly the same price as this truck, and I loved the torque from that power package, but that truck was stripped down. This truck is loaded. I chose one with the 4.10 gearing, and it is rated to tow just over 17K lbs. The Cummins was only about 2K lbs more, and I will never tow anything that heavy. The Hemi truck is lighter so it will hold 3k lbs of cargo vs about 2600 lbs for the Cummins. I just cracked 1,000 miles on it yesterday, and about 700 of that is towing. It is averaging about 10 mpg towing my double axle utility trailer, and about 16 by itself. My right foot has something to do with that though. The 4.10 coupled with the 8 speed transmission gets this thing off the line like nothing I've ever driven. It's impressive to say the least. I swear it shifts 4 times before I can even get across an intersection.
This truck is a Night Edition, has the Protection Group, Technology Group, Trailer Tow Group, and lots of things I haven't even figured out yet. I didn't add any options at the dealership. I had the Line-X done, ordered and installed a BakFlip bed cover, had the front windows tinted, ordered and had my bilge princess help me install some black side steps from Amazon (WAAAAAY Cheaper), and picked up an 8" drop for my existing Andersen adjustable hitch.

I had a Ram 1500 Laramie loaner from Enterprise recently while our Volvo was getting serviced and I was shocked at how refined it was. It's a LONG way from my old 2002 Duramax with its Tupperware interior.

Their interiors really are unbelievable. I had a 2013 1500, and they have come a really long ways in the last 7 years.
Yes very nice truck sherriff! You should let that rear diff break in though
I can't wait to see the bike princess pull that 272 in the driveway next year at trl!
Yes my son is on his 2nd ram coming off a Silverado. No complaints at all. In 3 years I don't know if we even did a warranty claim on it.
Believe me in a blue guy through and through but Ram has it going on. Plus they don't have that terrible door come that other 4 letter word has!

262/272/276 is pretty much my entire search history on my computer and my phone.
This is my 3rd Ram. I’ve owned the 2nd, 4tg and now 5th generation. The technology in these trucks is just insane. Case in point, I bought the thing without even calling to see what insurance would be. It hit me later that this truck is worth like 4x’s what my old one was! I sent my insurance guy the VIN, and the premium actually dropped $168 a year because of all the safety stuff on this one.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to finish this letter to Volvo Penta demanding they marinize a 6.4 Hemi.

I was actually thinking that myself the other day. My 5.7 has so much more power than the 5.3 chev.

My brother has the 5.3 in a 2010 GMC truck and it won’t get out of its own way. When I ride with him I always ask if he wants me to run ahead and “tell them we are in the way”.

That's kinda interesting since a 2010 5.3L has more HP and torque than the last time in 1998 that Chevy used the 5.7 engine. The 2020 version of the 5.3 is 15% better than the 2010.
That being said, the 3.5 Ford Ecoboost blows away all the other 1/2T truck engines.
